Hey guys, a few days ago I posted a review of the new Hive Logix mini-ITX case over at Losias.net.

As a follow up to that review, I've decided to get the little box under water. I'll be using this system on my CNC machine once it arrives. This isn't a big project, but I thought some of you might enjoy seeing it's progress anyway. I've only just begun, but I do have a sneak peek for you...

This is just a test fit of the water loop. Everything fits as it should, so it's time to break out the dremel... :D

    LOL. that is awesome.

Was looking at that. If you switched to a 2.5in Drive and moved it to the side of the case next to the motherboard. you could probably get a double 92mm radiator in there with 2 fans. blowing verically thru the case as it sits in those pictures.

NVM, didnt relize that machine is only 2.75inches thick, to thin for a GTX184 and fan setup.

    Thanks man! I appreciate it!

Yeah, the case isn't very thick at all. Nothing traditional would fit. Even this CoolerMaster kit is a squeeze. I still can't mount the fans directly to the rad, so I've come up with a creative solution. I'll have it updated next week!

Thanks man! It's a fun little diversion. :D

    Hey Craig

Nice mod. I always enjoy seeing your work.

I noticed your sig says, "Now... with more CNC!". I went to your site and really couldn't find anything about your CNC. But I did see the RomaxxCNC link. Is this the one you bought? I've been shopping myself, so anything you have written would be helpful.

    Thanks,

    Eric

    Thanks Eric!

Yes, I do have a Romaxx CNC inbound. It should be here towards the end of next week. Expect a ton of pictures and a review once it arrives.

I did lots of research and compared cost, features, and machine strength. The Romaxx machine offered me the best value. I spoke directly with Ron Rogers, and we worked out a nice deal to get a machine in my hands.

Once it does arrive, and it's in use, I'll live stream any work I do. The machine will have a webcam all to itself. :thumb:

I got the HS-1. It's the smaller of the two machines Romaxx offers, but still big enough for all of my needs.

I'd really like to get the bigger one... But it's almost double the price!

Hard to justify for my hobby.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Fortunately for me I focus on SFF. Unless I choose to build something bigger than that at some point, I won't likely need anything larger.

A few more pics of work in progress. I'm almost done, so expect me to fill in the blanks with more pics and a proper photo shoot once done. I've got to clean things up a little, and hide some wiring. Also, I've got to wait for different DDR2 to arrive. The Mushkin Redline you see in the pics is just a temporary filler.

I want to see how you mounted the radiator and fans.

I'll get pics of that sometime soon. Basically, there is a slot on the hard drive cage that the L bracket on the front of the radiator drops in to. On the back, there are notches in the L bracket that fit around the fans. The combination of the two, make for a snug, yet easy to remove fit.

    Romaxx cnc

    Hi,
Did you receive your HS-1 and if so, how has it worked out? Are you milling aluminum with it?
    Cheers from Canada,
    Donn

Hey, sorry I didn't catch your post until now. I received the HS-1 quite some time ago, and although I don't have a lot of machine time, it's worked very well. It's a very solid machine. I do mill aluminum with it, and if I do have any limitation, it's due to the spindle I'm using. I really need to lower the RPM's for more effectiveness, but that's not Romaxx issue. I just need to get a spindle with variable speed. The machine is plenty strong to handle it otherwise. I am using a custom alcohol mister for aluminum, and that certainly helps too.
