I've just heard something a bit concerning... Apparently HL2 wont use DX9 on the NVidia FX range cards...that is reverts to DX8, and consequently you miss out on some of the nice touches like refracting light etc... I have a 3.06GHz P4/1024Mb/128Mb FX5900XT which I would have hoped would be a good enough spec... but maybe not... Is this true about the FX/DX9 issue? Cheers
Yes it is true. Evidently there is some flaw in the FX architecture that prevents HL2 rendering in DX9 on an FX5xxx card. HL2 was Developed with ATI.... the FX series was Nvidia's range of graphics cards when HL2 was supposed to be released *hint hint*
