Can holesaws be used with non variable speed drills, as in cut a bit remove for a second then cut some more etc?
And where is the cheapest place i can buy a 120 and 80mm holesaw and arbor thingy (the bit that goes in the middle) the cheapest i have found so far is OCS , all of that for £55.

when you say "non-variable speed" do you mean like a pillar drill?

if so, then these are the best types as you only have to worry about the up + down, as you have effectivly clamped them both :)

    and yes they are compatible.

and go to a hardware stor (no, not Memory and CPu's, the hammers and timber type) they WILL be cheaper.

does the holesaw on here cut metal well as it looks a bit cheap.

try www.cooksons.com as they have good quality holesaws that will give you a really good cut and they are a bit cheaper than OCS

or visit your local hardware shop :D Getting out into the daylight does have its advantages sometimes, i know where i live i can get an 80 mm holesaw for about £10 in the local shop. Which aint too bad.

    This Looks pretty good.

Its a bit expensive (£49) but you can use it to make holes 30mm all the way up to 220mm, so your not stuck with making one sized holes. It also doesn't need an arbor (sp?).

Also the description clearly states that it will cut through sheet metels (there is a cheaper version of this product available there - £15 - but it stats that it will only do wood and plastics).

On last thing - it has a built in clear hood type thing to stop bits flying everywhere which means you proabably wont need to do much masking.

Hmm...think i might get one for myself. :D

i use my hole saws on a single speed drill. i just leave the arbor bit in and it takes a few seconds.

there arent bit flying all over. you get some metal dust when done, but the metal disk stays intake

cheers mateys. On www.toolsdirect.co.uk ( i think ) i have found a 76mm ,114mm saw and arbor for £35 or so , i think ill buy them. and the drill thing, my dril isnt variable speed so i cant go slow, as most guides suggest.
