    Yikes !

    The cheapest Ive seen on scan or overclockers for the newly announced 4870 x2 is £375 ($750). Our American friends can pay about $500 [Sapphire] (£250)
    Even if you take off the VAT (read UK stealth TAX) the cost is £320 ($640).

    There really is no excuse for it. Its just as bad across the whole range of GPU cards to be honest. Nvidia and ATI.

    Do we subsidise the rest of the world or something ? It should be illegal.

    American pricing is ex tax, tax depends on what state you live in, so does postage.

    The cost of living in the UK is always higher - compare it to prices in Japan if you want something equivalent.

    I reckon £299, sliding to £249 would be better.

    considering its their top of the line card the pricing still compares favourably to the launch price of the GTX280....

    It's roughly equal to/less than the price of two 4870s.

    I've seen worse pricing. I'm still up for a couple.

    Here in the states where i live, it would cost $533.75 taxes included. Sadly local retailers jack up the prices on most PC items, so a rough final number would be $587.13-$639.43 with taxes included.

    have you seen the launch price of gtx280??

    IMHO £300 is about the right price for 4870x2.

    I think eBuyer have the cheapest prices atm, IMHO both Scan and OcUK (no suprise there) are overpriced on this particular product:

    Current price ranges on 4870X2's:

    OcUK = £375 to £400
    Scan = £371 to £400
    eBuyer = £344 to £355

    I just noticed that on ebuyer, too. £345 for a 4870X2 and £335 for 2 x 4870's. Slightly more reasonable than £375, but needs to quickly drop.

    I was personally thinking that it would be £300 AT MOST. One card should always be cheaper than two. But to pay MORE for a setup that is slower? Stupid.

    Going to get one of these if it goes below £320 or so when I upgrade my rig otherwise that's way too much to pay.

    Wish there was a 1gb version with 512 on each card to make it a little cheaper, then again i guess that would impact on aa and af (though i rarely use either)

    But the cards aren't actually in stock, I think there will be more parity between stores and lower prices when they are actually available.

    Hopefully once they are released they will bring down the price of the standard 4870's!

    Nope.

    Tbh the 4870s are already pretty cheap given what hardware you've got - GDDR5 aint cheap for starters.

    True, but with enough people hoping it might make it so! ;)
