Does anyone have any info regarding making your own laser tag guns? Can the parts be purchased in kits?
yes I know all about airsoft and paintball.... I play both. The reason I want to make my own laser tag guns is beacause we want to play in town. Obviously you can't run around town actually firing ammo or use real looking guns. These will be fake looking + fire nothing but IR light. I still need some help.
I remember reading about a system that is available for radio control aircraft, for dogfights. I guess the components for this would be suitable for you, but I cannot remember what it is called. It was in a UK RC plane magazine about a year ago. Cheers
a fair few years ago you could buy these as pre-built kits... about $150/£100 cant quite remember what it was called something like lasertag try google
Well I have heaps of sets of laser chalange! I bought heaps and now the shops oveer here have em fairly cheap! I have oppend em and looked at em and they are fairly basic! all just tiny circuit boards and capicitors ad resistors ad transistiors, I could easily copy out the ciruit wiht components and values for you exept there is one problem they have thos chips on em that are the blob of black crap on the circuit board! I think thos are only for they sound but I could be wrong anfd they have no identification on them so yea.
I'm Sure if you posted the circuit diagram, including the IC. Zap / Acriminous / a few others could work out if it was needed / what it does.
i miss laser tag. i used to buy up every peice of laser tag gear that came out. but i wana make my own. i wish i had the designs. now im guna be looking around for this stuff when i should be working on my thesis. <cartman>i hate you guys</cartman> LOL
From my quick look at the links, they all look like programmers trying to solve a hardware problem. When the first thing I see on a page concerns compling or libraries, I have serious doubts about any actual hardware there. Building your own lazer tag stuff should be around 95% electronics. The actual code doesn't need to be complex. Here are a couple links I found concerning the tech info of lazer tag gear and some circuits for building stuff. http://www.steradiantech.com/lasers/tech.html http://www.compulink.co.uk/~lasertag/PDF_files/sgconst.pdf
Maybe someone here can answer my question: I know laser tag uses regular IR leds and not "lasers" so how do they get such a narrow beam? i mean, leds emit light in a pretty wide beam (or at least wider than would be use full to make a gun), so how do they make the beam be laser-like?
MaximumShow I researched about the gear I have and I found out that the chip on them is not jsut for sound it is basily the whole thing! oh and juat use google and spend some time that wat I did and I got heaps of info.
bHawk, the answer is optics. There is a lense that focuses the beam. There are some rage modifications that involve changing this for a better lense.
