    Main uses of intended build:
This is to replace my current ESXI home server which runs 5+ VMs (pfsense, windows server, windows 7, windows 8, NAS4Free) main users are NAS, downloading and backing up files over the network.
It's a good server but recently it's been freezing/crashing regularly plus the motherboard isn't 100% compatible with ESXI so no temp readings etc for monitoring. The case has no more room for additional hard drives and I'd like to go RAID with room to expand that in the future.

    Parts required:
I'll reuse what I can from below, probably the RAM, NIC and PSU so that leaves:
CPU, Motherboard, Hard drives, RAID card (if needed), Case (preferably rack mountable), Cooling

Previous build information (list details of parts):
AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
    Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5
    12GB 1600MHz Corsair Vengeance DDR3
NTEL Pro/1000 PT Dual Port GIGABIT NIC PCI-E CARD
    Lian-LI PC-32B
    Corsair CX600M
    Noctua NH-L9a
    3xHDDs mix of drives 1TB, 1.5TB and 3TB

    Monitor resolution:
    N/A

    Storage requirements:
16TB RAID of some kind (8TB+Usable)

    will you be overclocking: no

Any motherboard requirements (no. of USB, Xfire/SLI, fan headers):
ESXI compatability (maybe there's a secondhand HP/Dell server that would be appropriate for this?)

    Extra information about desired system:
Current power draw is around 100W, new server will ideally be lower as this is run 24/7.

    Thanks:thumb:
