Electronics Home Stereo Phono to RCA???

    Ok, so I have this old sony home theater system ($500 system from '95) anyways when I connect say my xbox, it's all distorted, what could be the problem???

    I don't quite get what you are trying to say.

    Do you mean that you plugged your Xbox into the audio input marked phono? You simply cannot do that, that is the record player input and it has a much lower voltage level because of the passive pickup, so there is a pre-amp that amplifies and filters the signal to make it sound right. If you plug a standard low level audio source (CD, tape, whatever) into that jack, it will sound like crap, nothing to do about it.
