Still selling an "all you can eat" package with a 100mb fair use policy isn't exactly cricket either, bit like going to a chinese and getting a couple bowls of rice. Honestly contracts should have a bar at a certain level where you have to phone up and have it removed so the company can at least high light that your about to owe your house to Vodafone.
Ran up a phone bill that was massive, there was a thread on it a few years back, Any one know what happened about that? or if he is even still on the forums?
Found it: http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=86443 I had totally forgotten about that thread, I'd even posted on it a couple times!
Read the story, he wasn't on an "all you can eat" internet package. So he thought you could get uncapped for £7.50? People like Ian really need to learn to read - and get better mates.
He should have learned to read, but if he signed up for something that claimed to be "unlimited" then that's false advertising. A bit like Comcast does, where if you download past some magic limit they won't reveal to you, you get in trouble.
Nobody read the small print anymore? Or was P.T. Barnum right? The Vodaphone contract in question has a 120Mb monthly fair use limit. Given the nature of contracts, this will undoubtedly have been mentioned quite explicitly on the papers that he signed. Obviously, most people can read. And even then, which idiot downloads films over mobile bandwidth???
T-Mobile web and walk... same deal i'm on, they get upset if you use it on your laptop since they have specific package but you can use it for your pda no problem. Besides all that if you do use it on your laptop they cut you off not charge you over £20k
I can't remember quite how I did it (I might have filled out a form, or done a questionnaire), but using a PAYG phone from O2 I managed to get free GPRS internet for 6 months at uni. I didn't have any internet at all other than that so it was great. I never put too much money on anyway so that if my 6 months ran out I wouldn't be charged. I bet they imagined people to just use it for browsing and purchasing ring tones. I ended up downloading half life 2!
