Since i didn't get my license when i should have im resorting to a moped, witch hear in Virginia (don't know about other places) you don't need a license to drive one that's under 50cc. I like the style of the ruckus, has any one ridden one? I'd need something that will get up to 45~mph it'll be mainly used for putting around town and getting from home to school and eventually work. So has any one owned a Ruckus or similar moped? something cheep and reliable but speedy when needs to.

In Colorado, these moped things are EVERYWHERE. Young people, Moms and Pops, and even us Older than dirt peeps are looking at them. Most areas have 3-6 month waiting list. Can't even buy a Prius off the lot in CO.
Just go for one. The gas prices have come down about 30 cents here in CO but I don't believe it will stay or go much lower. One good Hurricane will raise the gas price in US ~ 35 cents. Shutdown refineries, evacuate off shore rigs, etc.

Fill it up from the setee change? Sweet.

    True story/Old wheezer rant:
In 1969, in Sioux City, Iowa a gallon of premium gas at the Dividend gas station was $0.25 USD, they same cost as a cheeseburger at McDonalds next to the Dividend Gas Station. The gas station is gone and is a parking lot for Mc D's. My brand new Hemi Roadrunner got 4.3 mpg on premium, regular was $0.17 but the Hemi wouldn't fire on regular. Gas or cheeseburger, tough choice!

Perspective: In 1969 I was a journeyman Insulator making $2.87 per hour - now I make 37.8 times that much. Overtime is good and several college degrees helped the increase.

Will this fit on that? Still 50cc

Ok. If your township is small, I'd definitely recommend it to you for getting around. Most cities around me are rather unfriendly to anything that isn't a compact-class passenger car. I prefer a car simply because I need the seating and carrying capacity (ohhh that snooker cue is too much to me!), but you have to deal with gasoline, licensing, ownership, insurance, registration, and the list goes on. That scooter may just do the trick. Plus, it's well, well useful for getting around at university.

If your a bigger guy that thing will not get up to 45mph. And is not highway legal by any stretch of the imagination. I have a 150cc scooter and it barely gets me up to 55mph, and I am a bigger guy.

And unless Virginia has a different law about these things, you need a normal drivers license for anything under 50cc. At least thats how it is in Wisconsin. (I actually need to get a motorcycle license cause mine is a 150cc)

I was behind one of these Ruckes models a few weeks ago. Nice unit indeed.

    :)

those things are dangerous, get a proper bike or not at all. 250cc+, they're still damn fuel efficient at that capacity

A friend of mine said he bought one, to displace the gas prices of his SUV as his daily driver. He said he loves it, its not a speed demon as you know, but it gets you there. He also said some of his friends who had Harleys and maid the pilgrimage to Sturgis from Washington state really wanted to go for a ride on it. Any bike is dangerous, not necessarily because of your actions, but the actions of other people, you're just vulnerable. But you only live once so I'd go for it if you can!

Virgina laws are different, you made me wanna go check just in case heres what i found

I'm guessing a school idea would pass for an identification card.

And as far as my town being small, well you can drive threw the howl town in 10 minutes, but i live a lil ways out of town is my only problem.

    Here my town, lol.

Thats a cool looking 'ped, have had a look at them before, definately something better about them than all the other hairdryer-powered-seats-on-wheels!

They're a lot of fun, i'd say more so than a car, i cant imagine it being fun for long journeys though....gas mpg will be good, but so is a big bike, dad gets like 70mpg on his 500, and all his mates tell him he must be riding it wrong! ( wrong being NEED MORE REVS! )....

Thing with bikes or 'peds, they're all dangerous, one tip, ride day in day out with your headlight on, you get spotted so much easier, and it will just about save your life!

At least you won't be like most of the kids(well, 16+) you see on mopeds round here - all with shorts or thin nylon jogging bottoms, and at most a tee-shirt.

They'll learn eventually, the (very) hard way.

Bikes are fun - I'd suggest getting a full license.

They have the same thing here, but people still dont check their mirrors for bikes, or double check junctions, i drive as defensively as most bikes, and as my dad is a biker, i have serious respect for them, so much so i will allways move across for them if behind me, they're easier to watch out for when in front of! I've moved across so bikes can undertake me on the motorway between lorries but it helps having a car thats less than 1.5m wide!

Over here mopeds have such a black tar stigma to them they're simply uncool, or cool depending on which side of the council estate you live on...Bloody chavs racing round, revving at lights, joggers and hoodies the norm, allways have found memories of having two boys nip round me at some red lights while waiting for a change, revving like they were going to speed off, i revved the bollox off mine to 6.5-7k and it scared the crap out of them ahaha.

Yea im for sure getting my motorcycle license asap. i wonder if putting a turbo on it ruins the "no license needed thing" it'd still be a sub 50cc motor >.>
Edit: wow thats a lil more then a turbo.
