I feel that it cuts up the flow of the thread, I'd happily forgo the width for a vertical layout :) (fnar)

as many have sad i think also having the stads on the left would be better. it makes the sides really really long to scroll down.

I voted "I hate it, please revert".
It does give extra width to posts, but it adds to page height that you then have to scroll through.
I think you should look for other ways to get extra width, maybe by removing the, mainly empty, blue bar down the right hand side.

mother of god! how can i look down the thread for a certain somebodys post like this ?! all the data is sorta crammed into itself! in one endless, neverending story oftext, TEXT, TEXT.

Maybe this is bits new problem... it all seems to revolve around text, and lots of it, all in some sort of row!

thats how i perceive anyway :)

actually, they're targetted, so you'll see different stuff depending on what country you live in. But the blue bar will still be there

i made a bit of a mock up of how it is and how it could be. you actually fit much more content with them on the left and its nice and easy to read. :thumb:

mock up on 1024x768 (i ahd the window full screen, though i cropped the pic. and no i havent made the second one larger to make like it looks like theres more content, its the same size :):

    vertical (now) :blah:

horizontal  :thumb: : note that there is 5pixels either side of the banners on the right. this still leaves some "breathing room" around them, yet doesn't waste precious space

Thanks for your efforts - I hope people could use them as Before & After shots to decide which way to vote. Unfortunately, and again there's no way for you to have magically known this, but the buffer space around the skyscrapers isn't for decoration: it is there to support the new 160x600 skyscraper standard. Current ads are 120x600, but there will be some 150x600 and even 160x600. They will merely fill the blue space, and not encroach any further

Since the ads are there to stay, this new layout is much better. It might take a little getting used to, but the increased posting space is more important :)

I also disklike the avaters and user info spanning across the top of each post. Much prefer the old layout made threads easier to follow.

    no Problem :).

The ads don't bother me too much (i click on the ads from time to time, it all helps, right? ;)) Most forums i visit now have ads on the left or right, so im getting used to it.
its just the avatar/stats bar that bothers me atm. :p

Voted "Revert it" - the extra width is handy when browsing at 1280x1024, but the extra height to scroll through is annoying all the time.

That said, if it's left like this, I guess disabling avatars might be a solution... not perfect, because the bar at the top of the post is still 3 lines, which (IMHO) is still too big for my taste... but better than with avatars.

    Thank You!!!

i am liking the re-design of the website and forums currently, its got a nice new fresh feel to it. However the only thing that was annoyying me was the vertical layout, now you have changed that back im all happy.

    :)
