In that case Silicon - I have used silicon for a while now and it's great - cheap(ish) resistant to kinking and does not react with any coolant additives (tho' it does stain with dyelite and WW). I also run a dual gauge system so I know you can get it in 3/8". Hope that helps :D :dude:

For barbs look for 3/8" bore x 1/4"BSP (can't remember actual code  wait a mo'..... ah! BMH1438 ). Those are the ones you want :)

Oh, and when you're fittin' those barbs, if you're puttin them through a rigid plastic like acrylic don't forget to tap the holes (1/4"BSP for the barbs above). If you don't your plastic will craze then crack...... mmmmm....... waterfall:sigh: ..........

    Good Luck:D

With silicon you will loose more water due to evaporation than with PVC!

But silicon is better to build in because it's not so strong like PVC.

If you don't want to tap threads you can't really just put a nut an washer on the back I'm afraid - yes it will work but you're running a great big chuffing risk of leakage :( . Your best bet is to amble back over to Thorite and order some 'bulkhead fittings in (1/4" BSP) this'll allow you to get a really tight seal around the hole in the res with the fitting then screw your barb with PTFE tape into the fitting - sorted! :D

If ya need any help trying to find the fittings just post on here and I'll find 'em for ya :)

    Im planing on getting these..

    Black ice prime rad
    Eheim 1048 pump
not sure about the block yet, ive e- mailed teckheads about the maze 3 and they say its in, but not on web-site.
    Silicon hose 3/8.
thinking about cooling my gf3 but not sure as of yet.
As for the res dont know if im going to put it in the case or above it on my desk.
Funny thing is my psu[sparkle 400] is so damm noisey,so ill need to put another fan in that, the air coming out of it is quite cool so i can run the fan at a slower speed.

This is what http://secure.thorite.co.uk/ sent me the codes but i think he gave me the wrong codes :( ill have to email him again. [cant find them ]

b1g-d0g M8 can I make a few suggestions to your planned rig setup?

First, ditch that BI prime - get an OCPC neptune 'the deep' rad instead. The BI prime's are known to not have that great a performance - also are quite pricey for the performance you get. I've got a BIXtreme and I gotta say it's good but I wish 'The Deep' had been on the market as I could have saved a load of dosh and got the same performance :(

Second - DON'T consider the Maze-3 - they have a huge probem with the plexi top bending if the block gets hot - one guy on these forums in switzerland (can't remeber your name soz:) ) had a rig wrecked when the top warped and sprayed the inside of his rig with coolant!

I'd recommend the OCPC block - this has a clear top but is lexan so won't leak :dude: ! V nicely made and BRITISH :D ! (plus you can light it up with an LED :D )

You can get OCPC stuff @ www.overclockedpc.co.uk (I'm not sponsored by them incase you are wondering - just had two DD blocks both of which took ages to get looking good (dents etc!) and the OCPC is pretty much fettled out of the box + high flow design!)

You'll also need fittings for the Eheim - the stock ones will work but your much better off getting some longer barbs from either thorite (I got my brass ones for my 1250 from them) or overclockedpc do a fitting kit for each Eheim pump with the barbs plus hose clamps and a few other bits.

Oh yeah! get yourself some nylon hose clamps as well - thorite's ones are beefy and REALLY solid (My 3/8" ones are in a bag with PHC13 on it so I think that's the code :) )

res wise - if ya want large get one of those 10 or 20l boxes from B&Q then bosh some bulkhead fittings though it! Tupperware's also popular (do the same thing with the bulkhead fittings). Or, if you're after looks as well as fuction........

OCPC (again ) do a nice acrylic tube res (I got one on the back of my case) or www.cooling-solutions.de do another good lookin res kit and ship to the UK - they also speak english so you can e-mail requests in english if ya german's not too hot (like mine :D )

Right- that's all I can think of that might be useful to you (soz for the 4million word essay :) ) Just post if ya want anything else. Also - I see what ya mean 'bout those thorite codes :( good luck sortin them out!
