Hey guys i plan on making my new rig at christmas but i plan on having it in quite a small room where there is a Samsung 32in Tv, PS3 and a sound system that are on all night long with me in there aswell. I hate having the windows open because of all the creatures that come in and i normally shut my door. So at about 10 o clock its like spain in there. Im a little worried that having my new rig in there will only add to the heat and maybe even damage it. Any ideas on what i should consider doing or will my new rig be ok in there? im sure some of you guys have your PCs in a small room. Thanks (hope this is the right place to post sorry if not)

Personally - if you can live in it - and it's at stock - a well built pc should be fine. It will add to the heat of the room significantly.

To keep the pc cooler consider overspeccing the heatsink, and perhaps getting an aftermarket graphics cooler for it. To keep the room cooler have you considered mosquito nets over the windows so you can open them?

Mosquito nets over the windows, problem solved. They only cost a couple of quid and can easily by attached with tape although if you could fit some sort of frame it would help with opening and closing them.

Its only when computer temperature reaches dangerous levels that you need to be concerned so keep an eye on it for the first week or so. An adequately cooled computer in a hot room should be ok.

Airconditioning units start at about £150, but it's a worthwhile investment, not only for the PC, but for you!

My room used to reach about 30*C sometimes... totally unbearable!

That's if one is willing the pay the electricity costs associated with it which can be rather high if you rely on it!

Yeah that's a good point. However I'm willing to pay the costs of all the equipment heating the room, so I'd pay for the cooling too.

It will be TOTALLY ok unless your room is like >50°C ambient temp...

And as said, invest in a good cooling solution for the CPU, and propably for the GPU, and don't forget a proper PSU.

Hot rooms suck and blow, but it isn't going to kill your PC.

just keep an eye on your temperature, it won't damage your PC.

my rig in my sig has overclocked CPU, i leave it to work on Folding@Home all the time. some times even over a 4 day weekend. when i come back, the room is boiling hot with the usual 30c to 34c WD Green hard drive at 42c, idling. CPU temperature was 75c. and still, i wasn't worried because heat doesn't kill a computer unless it's extreme conditions (read: extreme, such as mm_vr's 50c ambient)

Thanks for all your comments they were all very useful. After reading what wuyanxu said it really has put my mind to rest. I dont think even in my hot room my components will be running that hot and my PC wont be on for days at a time.
