I'm in need of a source to play music from over a hotel audio system. Basically, we already have wired in speakers, and an amplifier for each separate area (there are two). We used to have mp3 players, but after a year or so of constant playing nearly 24/7, they tend to die. I'm trying to think of a better solution, and the best thing I could think of was an mp3 CD player. The plus side being, it will last a lot longer, and I can send down preloaded CDs from here, without them having to send the player to me to load it up with new music. What sort of thing should I be looking at? Needs to be durable and be able to play mp3 CDs, hopefully with shuffle, and less than 100 quid.
This is a bit expensive, but have you considered a really cheap PC running Linux? Would be perfect, and you could be able to get the whole thing done for around £150-200, provided they already have a screen. Otherwise, an MP3 player is really your only bet, the CD player is a bit risky with durability, you can't always be sure what would happen.
