I couldn't see this posted any where though its not exactly breaking news.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/4662809.stm

Absolutely disgusting. reading the texts at the bottom from people who had to stay in london, the price she paid was more than quadruple the normal price!

tbh anyone caught profiteering from a tragedy such as this should be arrested and put in the cells for a week or so.

That is really wrong. People should be trying to help each other out at times like these, not trying to take them for every penny they have.

such a thing should be illegal if its not already. Hoteliers who do that should have huge fines put on them, like have their license suspended for 1 week.

It would appear however, that it may not be the 'brand names' who upped the price but rather the crooked staff who did it for their own profit. Personally, I would have offered a 1night free stay to any londoner, if I owned a hotel chain.

Disgusting. Anybody will do anything to make a buck, I guess. Wish they'd post the names of those hotels so people will boycott them.

The BBC news article has some readers' feedback added which lists identifiers of hotels that raised rates (and some that waived them --that happened too!). Any of us staying in London in the near future, let's vote with our wallets. :)

Amen. If I go to london in the near future, I'll stay where they let people stay free for the bombing, and I'll tell them exactly why I chose them, too.

I hope other people will do likewise, as well as leave those other vultures to suffer for their own greed.

Wow, can the BBC do that? I mean print that list? If that happened here in the US, we would see some law suits flying for slander eventhough it was the truth.

Of course you are right, but it would most likely go to court anyway. Hey, the lawyers need to make the payments for their vacation home on the beach and need the money to buy that new Porche don't they? ;)

Heh...you have no idea, liquid. Truth is stranger than fiction...and if it's not, it's not believed.
