(Not sure if in right section, so please if in wrong section, fix it; thanks) Hey all I will be moving into a new house soon and I know the amount of rooms (not their location) so i decided to start drawing some schemes for a complete home wiring setup and home automation. Not exactly sure what hardware ill be using, but whatever i will be using, i want it to be able to be controlled via the computer and the iPod Touch/iPhone. But anyways, I know that among closets and a patio or two, I'll have 3 Beds, 2 Baths, Kitchen, Living Room, and Possibly a den(this is one of those varibles). I am already looking at my hardware for a server to control the automation stuff, but all of that plus my other like 3 computers will be in the 2nd room. as the picture shows, it has a basic diagram of the rooms (in no specific order) and the basic hardware we know that will be in it. I have got motly everything planned out, with the exception of what automation hardware/software to buy and how to do somethings with audio and security. I really dont care about the price and cost of this, but i would like it to be low. I want to have a integrated security system in this, along with a router, switch, RJ11 splitter, and the hard part ( at least to me) audio/speakers thruout the whole house. Now my idea is to integrate speakers thru the whole house so it can use the same channel of audio (IE, whole house can listen to a movie thats playing in the Living Room) and so that it has independent audio controls and an input that when used takes over that section of speakers(IE, 2nd Bed plugs an MP3 Player into the input for the speakers, so now 2nd bed has MP3 playback thru speakers, while the rest of the house has what ever is playing).Notice the green Home Automation lines that are dashed; Another thing that will be hard, is I want to keep bedroom/bathroom automation separate from everyone else, but the owner(I only want control of my bed/bath, dont want owner of master bed/bath to control 2nd bed/bath, etc). I think you can all see why i want this. Should i have a raise blinds option, I only want to raise the blinds in my bedroom, not the master, which could get me killed. So any solutions here? I am thinking X10 with the custom frontend for the iPod Touch/iPhone or another one which is supported to work with Girder (cant remember the company name, but i remember the equipment is called a PLC and the company name starts with an "i")... so any thoughts here? And any one who has done this, any tips?
