So I think it's about time I let this forum know about my silly little hobby. I know we have a few petrol heads in these parts so this might tickle you. In short I race hovercraft and I've just finished building my latest one. Everything near enough is hand built besides the obvious stuff like the motor. Speaking of which the motor is from a 2004 GSXR 750 running in 3rd gear. Power wise it's hard to say but I've heard numbers in the 125BHP mark often used so I'll go with that. It doesn't have seatbelts, brakes or other useful safety features. It does sort of float for a bit but not for long. Hopefully it makes a few of you smile. It's going racing this weekend with my Dad acting as test pilot before I go racing in a month. I might start an online photo album so you can see how it gets on. Hopefully these images are small enough. If not I can replace them with links. I can't get them any smaller
Impressive!!!! I remember going to my brothers school open day years ago and the technology dept had built a mini hovercraft, much like yours. They had it chained to a stake so it could go round in circles with display tables around the edges. Half way through the day whilst giving rides to parents and little brothers like me, The stake came out and the Hovercraft took off quick speed right into the f*cking art displays. That 1970's elf 'n safety for ya. Good day out iirc. Still laugh about that episode over a steak and beer with my bro......no pun intended.
Taking it racing tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes. I've tried using it as a babe magnet before and the results weren't what I was hoping for to be honest.
