I read somewhere that it takes up the AGP slot (obviously) plus a PCI slot - so how big is this thing? Will it really take up that much room?

Only the 6800 Ultra has a dual-slot cooler, although there might be GTs with special cooling solutions that take up two slots (the Gainward GT maybe).

The eVGA GT is single slot, but it still isn't a good idea to have anything in PCI slot next to it anyways.

:naughty: Those lame PCI slot coolers are pretty lame AFAIK, loud and not that great. The 6800GT are pretty long, following in nVidia's tradition but as said they are normally single slot coolers. Also as said it's always best to avoid using the PCI slot next to the AGP one, not only because it restricts airflow but because resource conflicts are too common. The 6800GT isn't a monster, well no more really than the Rad9800XT or FX5900ultra.

the MSI 6800gt is a single slot card but it did turn out to be about an inch longer than my ASUS 9800xt, which some people may find a bit of a problem. I had to re-think my cables a little, but i wouldnt worry to much about there size they should fit in most cases without to much upset :thumb:

    Sorry for the OT...

JoKeR, when/where did you get your MSI 6800GT? Also, does it look like this:

I'm just curious as to whether they are shipping them with the nVidia reference coolers, or the custom ones shown above (I have an MSI 6800GT backordered...). Sorry for the OT...

BTW, the above image is of a single-slot cooling solution. Gainward does use dual-slot cooling on their GT, but not the regular 6800.

Thermaltake makes a heatpipe system (yeah it is huge) for the 6800's, afaik zalman does not have one compatible with it yet.

And I have this much to say. I love it. Much cheaper than watercooling it also. :)
