Thats one wicked psu to power all that.
asus p5k dlx
2gb 8500 mushkin ram
1 sound card
1 network card
1 visiontek 4850
670w in the ibm x3550 (2x E5430, 16gb, 2x 73gb sas, esx + server 08 + freebsd 7)
silverstone st50ef+ in the bsd rig (2x MP2600+, 4gb, 80gb ide + freebsd 7)
delta 460w in the server 03 rig (2x 2.4ghz Xeon, 4gb, 2x120gb ide + server 03)
bfg es-800 in the desktop (E8400, 8gb, 4xhdd, vista ultimate)
I bet having the corsair VX450. It serves me well, I would estimate that my system only draws half the power of that, right bang on the high efficiency mark.
OCZ ModxStream 550w
Spec is in sig, how do I find out how much I use on load etc?
Served me well so far, started off in a c2d rig and replaced everything (including the case), apart from the PSU and the graphics card (getting a new one soon though)
Looks the buisness under UV light just need to swap out the loud fan which also has icky blue LEDs.
What's your electricity bill like?!
I'm gonna have to post some pics of a special PSU I received the other day.
all utilities combined come out to about $120 (heat, gas, water, electricty).
It's actually not unreasonable with the cost of gas and electricity these days.
This might sound like a stupid question.. but considering the price of good psu's these why not opt for a bigger model and run it at say 50% load max.. it should be more quiet as it does not get so warm right?
Silverstone Strider 750W. Modular cables re-sleeved by me.
MSI K9A2 Platinum
HT Omega Claro Plus sound card
6x 120mm Fans
1x 80mm Fan

2x 250GB SATA HDDs
2x SATA DVD Burners
2x 2GB DDR2 800 RAM
1x Card Reader
4x 12" Cold Cathode UV Lights
+Alix linux firewall
+Arduino control board running 12x blinkm RGB LEDs
+watercooled Pico ITX
+7" touch screen
+4x 1000gb HDD
+MatrixOrbital Typhoon GX
+7 120mm fans
+1 80mm fan
+6 40mm fans
+++ I forget everything else.
atm a Delux 420 Watt non-modular, got it for cheap so i think it is okay.. however since i'm planning to go SLI soon, i seriosly need at larger PSU.
My Delux is currently powering:
Gigabyte AM2+ mobo (don't remember the name)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+
2 x Seagate 250 GB SATA's
2 GB Corsair XMS2 RAM
and a few fans, both 120mm and 80mm
.. thinks that's just about it?
Akasa POWERPLUS v2 - AK-P650FF-V2 650W PSU
powering all components in sig.
corsair hx620, its a great psu but i want to add another 4870 for crossfire but dont have enough pci connectors so thinking about getting the hx1000
I use a Corsair HX520. More power than I need, but its quiet, efficent and modular.
I must say that's 100% true for me aswell.
Q9550 @ 3.4GHz
8GB of Corsair XMS2 800MHz 4-4-4-12
2x WD 640GB
Seasonic 700w. Currently running:
4400+, 2900XT, ASUS M2R32-MVP, 4 GB of Patriot DDR2-800, 500gb Seagate
Enermax Galaxy 1000Watts +135mm fan + 80mm fan + modular
I'm freaking happy with it
Computer PSUs are at their least efficient when powering small loads. Even though a higher-rated PSU would probably be quieter (since it has larger heatsinks and maybe more fans), it'd still be using more power than a lower-rated PSU would for the same load.
Found this. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817101033
I think it could power a fairly decent computer.
I have an Antec NEOPOWER 480 (modded with UV cable braiding) - very good PSU - served me very well so far, infact when lighting stuck a tree (and cow) in the field about 50 m away I saw blue sparks come out of it but no damage...granted i did have a power surge protector..
The cow died by the way.....
