Hey guys, Been a while since joining (6years forum 8/9~ browsing site) and its incredible to see how much bit-tech has changed. I remember originally when I joined the small community of people, there was half the articles, simple layout and core concepts of computers, modding and Industry news. Such a different site now, positives and negatives. But I will miss the old times! Regards, Blackfish23
I love bit-tech more and more every day. The reviews, the community, the people, the projects... PC technology sites don't get much better than this Post here if you <3 bit!
It still features on my work and home PCs favourite bars.... but I just feel that a few years ago Bit-Tech had better quality impartial reviews, more of them and more interesting articles compared to now. It could be linked to me joining the IT industry in 2007, but my current favourite review site is still end user orientated.
I used to read the mainsite religiously but very rarely used the forum, these days I almost never read the mainsite as the news tends to be old and the reviews are not a patch on the old style but the forum is a great place.
I'm not gonna lie, I maybe look at the main page 2-3 times a month. I check the forums many, many times a day though. This isn't because I dont like Bit-Tech's articles or journalistic style however, but purely because I just dont really care about computers enough anymore to need to know that manufacture a has a new P55 mobo coming or manufacture b has just released a new HSF.... it's all really quite boring. I check the few articles that interest me by clinking on the links in the discussion section of the forums.
You'd be 3 pounds richer I have been reading bit tech daily since 2002 but only started posting on the forum in 2005
Shhh! Don't say that... But yeah, i know what you mean. It was a different community back then. It was a bit more personal, and no matter what you did modding were cutting edge. Now the big companies are more into design than before, which is a good thing (in most cases). But I do miss the days where you could put a simple window in your case and it was considered to be very cool.
I can't remember when I joined although in that time I think I've seen 2 site redesigns. (Jan 08, I'm a complete n00b ) I used to be much more into modding and hardware than I am now; I barely even check anywhere other than General and Gaming at the moment.
The good old days of bit-tech. A privately own website by a couple of guys. It was the best back then. May 2002 I joined. I was in college and only 16! I remember posting about so many things, and in fact its fun searching thru your old posts. The things I miss about bit-tech is that is was more personal (mainly because it was a smaller community). The reviews were better and NOT driven by the big media company that now owns bt (don't get me wrong I like CustomPC). I came across the site when I was looking for a a few small mods that anyone can do and it showed me how to do it. That was the best thing about bt. I never check the main page anymore as the reviews don't interest me. My forum browsing has gone down to a minimum main'y because I don't like the new filter system. I preferred the old sub forum method. Ther also seems to be a lot of crap on the forums, I would like to know if the trash filter gets used as much as it did. I think the only reason I still use bt is that I've been here for so long. I don't use any other tech forums unless I'm looking for somethinkg specific about a product that I own. I'ts a shame things go this way. I suppose in a way its a good thing as its a victim of its own success, but for use 'old guys' we miss the way it was. Oh dear.... 'Back in my day.............' Thats it I am feeling old Regards GiGo
I was 15 in 2002...and had barely just changed the GPU in my parents PC. I think. Definitely didn't know this place existed. Played a lot of Star-Fury back then Ah the Wolfpack of R4... Anywho, I don't check the main site as much as I used to but it's still once a day, or maybe two days. It seems everything's up by lunchtime, and then there's nothing new til the next day. Forums, I mainly read General and Gaming, occasionally Tech Support but I don't really know enough to be of much use in there. Its' been a fun year so far though
