Nail on the Head springs to mind. I remember when the cathode and the window were huge, along with the stealth Lian-Li drive bay mod!

Is great to reminisce, though I guess with change you will lose some great aspects (smaller community) but gain some great aspects too which come from a larger community.

    Swings and roundabouts I say!

I think the main site has gotten better in recent years and the forums have gotten worse.

I joined nearly 9 years ago (2001 according to the forums!!). It's changed radically since then - I could not have predicted this back when I had first joined. It's grown massively!

I must admit I now barely visit the forums, but find myself visiting the actual site much more often. Complete polar opposite to when I was an active forumite, I'd barely acknowledge the front page and instead steam toward the forums. But now, I don't know anyone on here. It used to be a real community back in the day, and to be honest, I've noticed it still retains a lot of that even now, but all the people I got to know have now left or no longer visit.

I am glad BT has changed though - if it hadn't been quite rightly snapped up by publishers it would have bitten the dust during the recession probably, and it's too good a site to die like that.

Bit has come along way since the beginning. There have been ups and downs, but I'm glad it's still here.

I joined way back in 2001 though I have vague memories of the forums being wiped before that.

What even happened to Linear? And did he finish the ultimate project log, his house?

Or Macroman and his awesome plexiglass frontplates?

Did Penski do any more 'body modifications'? :eyebrow:

Must admit, there's less and less familiar faces on here every time I log in, so many people just seemed to disappear all of a sudden.

I remember some of the mods back in the day, absolutely basic and laughable by today's standards but at the time they were amazing, we had to make do with what was available!

At the time BT was acquired (Oct 08) it was (and still is!) doing better than ever, and that was right in the thick of the 2008 crash. In fact, it was more likely to be canned in the name of cost savings after it was acquired, and had plenty of cash in the bank to weather the storm

    Proud ex-shareholder? Absolutely :D

    BT rocks

Indeed. Forums definitely existed before 2001 :cooldude:

I assume March 2001 was when BT first started RTT?

Any chance of giving a list of the first 100 members to join and there last post date?

Just out of curiosity it would be interesting to see if their still around.

    Regards
    GiGo

I also wish the 'Member list' option was enable on this forum. I would like to know who's the top ten in post number (as useless as it is)

Nah it was before then; early 2000 if I remember correctly, and it was officially a limited company as of July 2004. March 2001 is when we moved the forums to vBulletin (or re-installed the forums and started over for some reason - I really can't remember now!)

Just when you're talking about old members - one member I'd love to catch up with who "disappeared" a while ago is "Tribaloverkill" I remember his project logs being insanely cool, and he was one of the first people I remember posting project log videos as well as photos. Something tells me he left the modding community to pursue a business idea he had, but I might be wrong about that. He may also have been banned over some trivial thing. I can't remember now, it's a long time ago.

16? I beat your join date by a month and I was 20 at that point :thumb:

    Amen....

Although I did have a bit of a hiatus from the site for a few years, I started reading/posting again early last year when I built a new machine.

So when was the first post (in the vB forum)? I'm assuming March 2001, can't find any older than that. I also assume that it was done by RTT as a Welcome to the new forums.

Any chance of a thread revival?

    Regards

I have very vague memories of that. I certainly remember having to re-register for some new forums.

Looking at the wayback machine records they have nothing before 2001 and the forums here: http://web.archive.org/web/20010408014657/www.bit-technologies.net/forums/index.php3 look very early versions of vbb. Not many posts in there either.
