That is a very nice enclosure, I wish I could get paint finishes as good as that myself!

yeh I think I read it a bit quick, although I'm still not sure on this you've just confused me!

I like how Jipa's boxes use a high pass xover, to get a big and smooth/quality output out of a small box, at the expense of some efficiency. Perfect solution when you've got the amp power but not much space :thumb: You can get the same top end output from a vented box of the same size using alot less watts, but the bottom end/overall sound quality will be much lower, like a typical cheap boom box.

@Boscoe, doubling amp power will increase the resulting volume by 3db.
Going from 1w to 2w = +3db, and going from 100w to 200w, will still only increase the volume by +3db. Obviously the latter would be a much higher spl, but both cases are merely just a noticeable increase in volume.
    +1db is barely noticeable.
+6db is a doubling in spl iirc, but it takes +10 db to actually sound twice as loud, which is about 10x the power.

Yeah to me that has always seemed like a nobrainer. Sure, it's always a tradeoff between stretching the bass response and losing on the maximum SPL, but so long as I live in a flat, the maximum SPL isn't really going to be a problem anyway. Not too long ago I borrowed the sub for my friends' house warming party. He lives in a place where there are no neighbors to disturb, so I had the chance to also try just how loud the sub gets before it reaches its limits.. Got me smiling :)

Also the good thing about the passive cone tuned(?) subs is that it's always going to reach the limit before the active cone (if they're the same size, anyway), so you aren't instantly wrecking the (more expensive) active XLS when the going gets too rough. Some psy-trance sure tried to blow the poor thing up.
