I made my water cooling system a while ago. I have a MCP350 pump , an old Koolance CPU water block , an 1984 Chevy Chevette Heater Core only has room for one 120 mm fan, and an intake and outtake fan and on either side with about an inch away with a homemade shrowd on either side. I am cooling an old pentium 4 3.2 gig about 2 years old or so. This is all inside the case. My question is that I do no think I am getting the tempertaures that I could be getting. My outside temperature is only 24C, but I am getting temps of idle about 31C and my load, which I have not really tested that much, is only about 36C or so. Are these temps good? If not what can I do to make it better? Another question I have is, is it really nessecary to water cool your chipset or is it just a waste of money for the water block?
Agreed. Very nice temps. Watercooling isn't nearly as advantageous as it once was, with some of the heatsinks on the market now - it's certainly quieter and has that mod factor; regardless, air or water, those are pretty good temps, especially for a P4. Chipset - only if you've got a small-bore low-to-medium-flow system. It's not too feasable on a large-bore system, and tends to do more harm than good. More a waste of flow than money, but it depends on a large number of things.
