My new all in one remote What it looks like when you pick it up... or cough in the same room as it (pretty sensetive)
I've seen those before. It'd be hard for me to use it, as it doesn't have clicky buttons (ones you can feel), but just one big flat serface. PEACE
It does have buttons. Unlike other remotes, the Kameleon doesn't have a touch screen panel. Have you ever seen inside a calculator? The buttons inside are like the rubber pads in a calculator, covered in a flexible EL sheet, and a soft membrane. Obviously you can't use the remote without looking at it until very familiar with the layout, but you can feel the buttons underneath.
Very cool toy. I'm envious. Do you have to "teach" it from old remotes or do you just punch in a code from a list to tell it what to emulate?
It has one of the largest device databases in it, but it didn't have my DVD player or TV You use IR learning, and point the original remote at it to teach each button a command. Very easy to do. I can also pick any DVD brand from the list of codes for the AUX mode and use it to control my HTPC with the IR receiver software.
It does both. You can teach it buttons, but mainly you just have to punch in a code and it will work with your device. Quite nice units, was thinking of getting one myself.
The reason I bought it was because Maplin sent me out a leaflet with their latest offers and I saw a blue backlit LCD remote. Instead of buying it I checked for some reviews and found www.remotecentral.com This one seemed to be one of the best of its class, but there are tablet style remotes and also full colour touch screen TFT remotes with page flicking animations to change modes and so on. All very nice gadgets
yeah i have seen them theyre cool but i saw the old style of them i want 1 and i will purchase 1 lol , Ice
I really need something like that but I can never get them to work with my NAD amp pace cable box can be tricky too.
It will probably work. The learning setup on this remote is fantastic. From the setup menu, you select the button you want to learn and then point the original remote at it and push the "teaching" button. It flashes twice to tell you it's remembered the setting. The good thing is it has flash memory, so replacing the batteries doesn't lose any stored settings
I got the old model of that one myself.. wery cool (i have a little trouble with the movement sensor, though... sometimes it doesn't work wery well... but pushing a button sorts that out
I dunno about the price tag though...I think Ill just stick too my $5 wal-mart special universal remote...
