I have a PC that I need to stop people changing the wallpaper on, I've disabled access to the Display Properties but they can still do it through right click in IE and in the normal file explorer.

Does anyone know how I can stop this?

run a program on login (startup folder) which changes the desktop to the original one, and have the computer log out after a period of idle... so then they log back in and its back to the usual.. that might work

I've never seen a network set up to completely disallow changing the wallpaper, but they always reset it on log-in and out.

It's a good idea but, wouldn't work as the machines are rarely switched off.

What you mean is that they can set the wallpaper by right clicking on a picture in IE and choosing set as wallpaper, right? I did a quick google for "disable set as wallpaper internet explorer" and found this article that may help. This is for IE 5.5, but it may still work for you.

Tried it already, only seems to work in IE 5, not 6 :(

Looks like I might have to schedule a program to run every 5mins to change the wallpaper back to default.

What's the OS on that box? I was looking around at the MS site and I found this article but it doesn't look very reassuring. I'm not sure you would want to stop what ever user from being able to write to the registry completely. Seems like there must be a way to do it. :blah:
