What is the proper format for quoting songs? For instance, my signature below, the last quote.

I don't know if each line of a song should have a comma between it and the next one.

"And you know it's time to go, through the sleet and driving snow, across the fields of mourning to a light that's in the distance." - U2, A Sort Of Homecoming

Or if it should just stay in it's original line form.

"And you know it's time to go
Ahrough the sleet and driving snow
Across the fields of mourning to a light that's in the distance." - U2, A Sort Of Homecoming

Should they have quotation marks at all?

Personaly, I think you should do it like this :naughty:, but then again, it's simply my opinion, no need to take it:

    [SONG BEGIN NOW]
    "And"
    "you"
    "know"
    "it's"
    "time"
    "to"
    "go,"
    "through"
    "the"
    "sleet"
    "and"
    "driving"
    "snow,"
    "across"
    "the"
    "fields"
    "of"
    "mourning"
    "to"
    "a"
    "light"
    "that's"
    "in"
    "the"
    "distance."

    [SONG END NOW]
    [ARTIST BEGIN NOW]
    - U2, A Sort Of Homecoming
    [ARTIST END NOW]

    :baby:

I once asked somebody how to quote songs, and that was roughly the answer I got.

All joking aside though, it is common practise in signature's to keep a phraise from a song on one line, keeps the sig smaller. But if the phraise is used outside a signature, and space permitting, proper placement and grammar rules would mean it would be presented as such:

And you know it's time to go,
Through the sleet and driving snow,
Across the fields of mourning to a light that's in the distance.

    - U2, A Sort Of Homecoming

Use a forward slash ( / ) to indicate the end of the line, if you really want...

And yeah, inverted commas around the whole quote are probably an idea.
