I have an STaudio dsp c-port2000 sound card for multi-track recording, im trying to make it work at its best, and according to the website, latency can be reduced by making sure it has an IRQ to itself. mine doesn't :( my mobo is a k7s5a, and according to sys info, every IRQ was in use. so i dissabled everything i dont need (fdd controller, on-board sound, parallel port, etc)
and i now have IRQ 6 and 7 free, but my soundcard is still sharing. :grr: i cant change the IRQ in windows device settings or bios. is there any other way of forcing it to use 6 or 7?

i've just noticed that the only thing it is sharing with is "ACPI IRQ Holder for PCI IRQ Steering"
and it seems every PCI device in my system shares with one of them. does anyone know what it is, as it seems to me that it has to be there and isn't stricktly IRQ sharing

Windows sorts itself out, its hard to specifically "assign" an irq for something, even though perhaps we'd like to. I have everything on either 9 or 15?! dunno why.

IRQ sharing giving problems is a thing of the past. ACPI gives everything virtual IRQs.
