Networks how do i stop some computer seeing my files

    ok i have a lets say a file server and its shared for all computer on the network but can i make some file out of bounds to some computer or only let one see the shared files on that computer

    i have't got an idea what to do

    Unless you're in a MS server domain with all clients in that domain it won't be that easy to put permissions on file level.
    There is however one very simple trick to hide shares; when you specify the 'sharename' you can add a '$' as last character. That way it won't show up when people browse the machine's shares. It can be accessed manually though; \\pcname\sharename$

    On the other hand if you know the administrator's pass/login of a machine you can get to ALL of it's files over the network; \\pcname\c$

    yeah \\pcname\c$ that works but hummm its not ideal.
