At my student house: Onboard (on my server) soundcard to my bass guitar training amp+speaker combo (15W RMS ), so that makes a 0.1 I guess alltough high tones come trough nicely on that small bass amps. On the road: Onboard laptop speakers At home: 2.0 crap set connected to my A7N8X-X mobo's onboard soundcard
Audigy 4 > i-triuge 3330 Though i need to replace my speakers, as they like to adjust the volume themselves.
Well i voted 2.0 speakers cheapo range, but come to think of it the most time spent listening to music is at work where I use a cheapo mono headset... although since you are probably looking to see how hot we are on HIFI going from cheap speakers to mono headset is probably not gonna change that much I used to have a nice HIFI setup but it went the way of the Dodo when I moved in with my girlfriend
where is the 4.1 surround option ? i use the best speakers ever okay maybe not the best anymore, but I have no reason at all to change them Cambridge Soundwork FPS2000 plugged via the digital din on my Audigy 2
Soundblaster Live 5.1 digital --> Aging Goodmans MC 90 midi hifi Well I say hifi, it is more hiss fi. It's another thing on my list of things to change when I get a job again
I voted 5.1 Budget speakers. Because I have a Logitech X-530. It is budget, but sounds premium really. That's why I buyd one of those. Two nephews of me also have this set. So we are all clear that this is a great set for a budget price Ow, and my (onboard) soundcard is an ADI SoundMax or something, which is HD Audio. It's on my ASUS P5N32-E SLI PLUS.
Creative Audigy 2.0 Extigy > Soundworks 6.1 speakers - or - USB Logitech headset. As for software iTunes for the freebie coke tunes or Windows media player for everything else.
Normally I use a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 231. they ahve hads years of abuse but still work perfectly. Sometimes use a pair of Grado SR125's.
Old stereo speakers from 1996. They are quite heavy and magnetically shielded, lending to some value I suppose. Sound quality is not good. I'm not compelled to replace them with everything else I have to pay for.
does it kill your ears too ? I just cannot use mine... I use my Sennheiser HD437 and 'wear' the headset on my neck only to use the microphone. It's unconfortable but still a hundred times better than wearing the logitech headset itself
Logitech z5500 for me, which I voted in as premium PC 5.1. I'm considering trying to move to a hi-fi/home cinema kind of setup eventually, but not sure when it's going to happen (mostly due to cost, partly knowledge, partly because I'm in a temporary housing situation at the moment)
Onboard sound from my Abit Fatal1ty F-I90HD motherboard -> SkyTec Tec6500 2x250W Amplifier -> Eltax Millenium 500 Floorstanders. Philips SHC8525 wireless headphones when the others are too loud. I need a decent soundcard!
I got my system for $40 after it first went to half price, and then to clearance, and THEN put my employee discount on top of that. (I bought it, surprisingly, at Spencer's Gifts.) Its called: iBlaster Music System (Model No.184 from Excalibur Electronics, Inc.) Its a simple 5.1 affair that I had originally meant to use on my DVD player for a simple cheap home theater system. I ended up attaching it to my computer instead. It came with a remote, and a billion adapter cables to hook it up to almost anything. (2.1 Sound Card, 5.1 Sound Card, CD Player, TV, VCR, VCD, DVD player (And probably HD-DVD/Blu-Ray I'd assume?) To me the sound is clean and good, and at max volume it'll fill most the house with easily heard sound. http://www.excaliburelectronics.net/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=SFNT&Store_Code=EXC2
