Some people pronounce it 'Veesta' and some pronounce it 'Vister'. And some pronounce it in their own special way. How about you?
You people that pronounce it Veesta are weird. Vista all the way, I don't see how anyone could think it was pronounced differently.
Just remember Terminator 2 and that "Hasta la vista, baby". And that's how it's pronounced. In english it would be something like veestah. In spanish it's just vista.
what a weird question i swear down its vister but like americans probably pronounce differently cos there special
Where are you getting 'Vister' from? I can understand 'Vistuh' and 'Veesta', but not much else. Personally, it's 'Vistuh'.
Ermm Vis'ta, where are people getting the eee sound from or the r at the end? It's not some new fangled made up techno word, it comes from the Italian, meaning 'view'
I think 'vister' in the poll was just to illustrate the sound the i makes. I say vi-stuh (No long e sounds to be found). A friend of mine says veesta, I can't fathom how he started saying that though. Vista just sounds right. (Though thats probobly more of a psychological thing because thats the way I say it)
That's how I say it. My roommate says it "veesta", but then again he's foreign. Anyone who puts an 'r' sound at the end just has some sort of REALLY weird/annoying accent. Ick. I'll think I'll try out Windows X for a while and see if it catches on. Although it's a pretty sad attempt if they were trying for an OS X clone. I'm trying to remember just how many versions of Windows there were... this might just *be* ten
It actually comes from the English word meaning 'View' - which originally came the Italian word 'vedere' meaning to see. I guess I'm not disagreeing with you; just emphasising the fact that it's been a word in common use in English for hundreds of years, since long before the white settlers reached what is now called Redmond.
