An old synaptics touch pad? Like one of those ones out of a laptop. I'm figuring it can be rigged up through a serial or ps/2 port right? I've seen it done before, but I'm not sure how to do it. Any help?

most laptop touch pads interface on PS2, rather a synaptics one i had did.

PS2 is very easy to connected to a MCU or just straight up as a mouse.

Most have a controller that stores the calibration values etc. some you can write too telling it new values.

erm can't find any specific links,

But if its got a PS2 interface standard, then look for the 5v power line, GND, DATA and CLK lines.

Power and ground should be easy to find. The data line is normally openstate on the host, but will have like a 10k resistance to 5v. Same goes with the clock, if you get clock n data wrong way round, there shouldn't be any harm done.
