May I ask MisterTad - what is your 9-5 job?
IT operations & incident management
Sometimes thats not enough desktop
Crikey tad, what are all those running through?
A bunch of nVidia Quadros
In what? And doesn't that create a loooot of heat?
Monitor 1 (15 Inch Flat CRT)
Monitor 2 (15 Inch CRT)
Monitor 3 (17 Inch CRT)
Various Other Programs (word, excel, etc)
Monitor 4 (19 Inch Flat CRT)
OutPut (FF, IE, Opera)
Various Other Programs
Monitor 5 (15 Inch CRT)
Monitors 1-4 are connected to one PC, and Monitor 5 is on another PC.
Left 17" - Main for games / browsing or whatever I'm working on at the time.
Right 17" - Winamp / IRC / Video playback / Email
3 monitors here at work - two TFTs and a CRT.
Main screen is 19" and another monitor is 20" widescreen.
The 20" is only for the winamp and messenger and the 19" shows all the rest.
Ou.. and the 20" is also my used as a TV
TTP (workflow software)
Zend Studio (code)
Photoshop (main window)
Not terribly exciting, but works well. All managed and accessorised with Ultramon and ActualTitleButtons.
What are the mons involved in that setup Hwulex?
Two 17" TFTs at work linked with synergy (they're two seperate PCs)
Right (main) - Various web browsers, Thunderbird, Gaim, Amarok, lots of Screen sessions, GEdit, Zend Studio, JBossIDE, OpenOffice
Left - Used for reference material (business/technical specs, manuals, guides) and tailing log files, so OpenOffice, Opera and more Screen sessions
Just a single 17" TFT at home
As of late I have been using my dual 19's for school. Keep MS word on the right where i can ready Use Cases and Visio open on the left so I can draw up DFD's.
In addition when im not working on school projects I like to keep iTunes and Windows Media Player on the right side while i have firefox and AIM on the left monitor. If im screwing around with photoshop then ill use both monitors and just move differnt photo's all over the place.
welcome to dual heaven =)
At work: 2 x 17" Dell* on an nVidia card; 1xD-Sub 1xDVI
At home: 2 x 17" LG L1710b(U) on a 256MB nVidia 6600GT dual-DVI
* unsure of exact model, currently at home
All calibrated with a Grecon MacBeth profiler.
i tend to stretch my work across both monitors and 4 virtual desktops. there's no one app that's guaranteed to be in one place at one time, everything just kind of moves around to be where it's most convenient at that instant.
one monitor for msn, one for general web stuff, and one for winamp. And 3 more for just looking cool (just running 3 now, as all the monitors took up way to much deskspace.
i have one on my server, though.
At work i have one for a VTS client, and the other for startmenu, outlook and so on. Laptops suck... I want 3 monitors at work aswell (where i actually need it!)
