    Usually it's a glass tube filled with glass beads, then they make it the same as a standard neon tube. The arc will find different paths between the beads making the liquid effect. You're not going to do it with plexi.

    the logisys liquid ccfl are plastic of some sort are they not ?

    Plastic outer tube to prevent breakage.

    I have one of these, It's the same setup as a plasma globe, just in a little tube.
