I recently brought a new alu case and decided it needed a window or two. I have cut steel cases before without a problem, I have holesaws and a dremel clone to work with. It looks like these will cut this case without a problem but just needed to check before going ahead.

Oh the case is this one click here and was fairly cheap.

I normally just use my dremel and some heavy duty cutting disks. I have only cut steel before so alu should be easier. First tip is to go around your outline first only cutting half way though the metal, then do a second pass going all the way through. Another tip is to cut from the inside of the panel, so that if you slip it only shows on the inside :dremel:

Aluminium is far easier to cut than steel, if you use a jigsaw you'll be through it in minutes. You *could* use a Dremel, but if you have a jigsaw, you may as well use that.

Make sure you tape it up to keep the finish and Just be careful of bending or scratching it.

I've cutted alu with a jigsaw and it was a piece of cake, even easier to go straight than with plexi.
    Use a good blade.

cutting alu with a jigsaw (with a metal blade) is wery easy... i think the dremel is worse though.. not tried it though, but the alu seem to be a bit ductile (??)... it might put huge load on you'r dremel if you go to fast...

find a scrap alu piece and test it oy will be you'r easiest way to find out.. MU opinion is that aly is easy to work with.. it just depends on the tools...

just remember that alu isn't as though as steel..
