With a POS emachines keyboard. I wonder how'd I do with a mechanical keyboard. Shame though, because I don't have one. Would be faster if I didn't make a few mistakes.
54WPM. This sort of test isn't representative of how fast a person can type though. It shows how fast a person can type words that are being read at the same time. If the test allowed you to type anything (that conformed to standard sentencing structure etc) then I reckon nearly everyone's speed would increase dramatically I'm a poor loser haha
Words per minute (WPM) 72 Keystrokes 367 Correct words 68 Wrong words 1 You are better than 89.99% of all users (position 5995 of 59890 - last 24 hours)
always knew I typed faster on my laptop, here is test I did just now on laptop, about 8 wpm faster than my desktop Visit the Typing Test and try! wooo Visit the Typing Test and try!
82 WPM on my shitty work keyboard, It'll be interesting to try it out when I get home on my mechanical. Words per minute (WPM) 82 Keystrokes 418 Correct words 77 Wrong words 1 You are better than 94.05% of all users (position 3690 of 61968 - last 24 hours)
You do realise that typing test is rubbish don't you, and the results meaningless? It's certainly not a test methodology that any proper organisation or agency would use to assess your speed/accuracy in the real world. A proper test would be 5 minutes long, using a subject matter expected to be unfamiliar to you, including words you would not normally use, requiring full punctuation, numerical entries, currencies etc. and for every single typing error in a word you make one whole word would be deducted from your score.
While you say that, and it's correct the results i got on that online test are about the same as when I had a typing test at an agency 3 years ago, infact I got higher wpm at the agency, which Is why I got a job as a typist for a bit. Party pooper its just a bit fun. You do realise that people sometimes come on here for a bit of fun and games?
In my case this should read how slow can you type im not sure as Ive never used software to test my speed but im guessing around half a sentence a week,no seriously Im guessing around 40-50 wpm
Regardless of the test, I'm a crap typist. I mainly use only my middle finger on my left hand, a few more on my right. I also make loads of mistakes One day I'll learn to touch type... Oh, and Kid you should be ashamed of yourself - you're the next generation of typist, and you have a posh mechanical keyboard as well!
Did I break it? I certainly didn't think I was a very fast typist. 1167 keystrokes, 217 correct words, 8 incorrect.
haha Sloth, I believe you broke the world record for typing. I don't care if it isn't a 'official test' , I'm not a typist/writer and don't have any plans to become one either. I just thought it would be a fun little competition. Although I did expect more of you to be really good typist.. being geeks and all. Still, I think it's a good skill to have. So many people that work at my office can't touch type correctly and it frustrates me, it's just not efficient. It's wasting everybody's time when we have talk slower and in parts so the guy taking notes is able to follow. And although probably a bit slower, I can type just fine with punctuations, numbers, accents or other special characters ( $ % & @ ' " ; : * $ # = + - _ ).
I do not particularly like that test, if I was typing something that I came up with I would be able to type much faster, I keep having to read the words and then re type them is a major down side for me, especially on the likes of two, where I automatically type to or too... Visit the Typing Test and try! Will try it on the full sized keyboard when I get to work tomorrow.
