You don't believe 220wpm do you ? He found some way to fool the website.

I'm using a standard mac wired keyboard.. in QWERTY, while at work I have some cheap HP AZERTY keyboard. I tried the test this morning and hit 100wpm on the first try. In the past I always needed to adjust when I got home or at work (qwerty/azerty) but it doesn't bother me anymore..

I don't use my left thumb actually, I make my right thumb do all the space-bar action. Only use my left thumb while gaming, not that I game much anymore.

Aw Lovah you're ruining the fun! Okay, in all honesty I was not typing that fast but it was no trick! Blame my work PC being painfully slow, the test was lagging including the timer but still accepted all of my inputs. :D

On the flip side it's somewhat difficult to type when the text display is constantly lagging five or six words behind!

You perhaps do. I have a typing speed of about 80 wpm according to most of the tests I take yet people frequently comment upon the speed of my typing when I'm in full flow. I think reading and then typing what you read is vastly different than typing what you're thinking, and there's also the element that I can type basically as fast as I can think so I often end up typing away for a minute or two without stopping at all. I think volume gives the impression of speed, in other words.

Guess what is everyone doing at typing competitions since invention of typewriter ? You nailed it, they had to copy existing text. Either from another paper, or in case of computers from display.

On the horrible netbook. While in bed. Ill try the desktop later.

But I thought you lot would be faster. I'm always being informed that I type slowly.

I'm faster in English than I am in my mother tongue. That's kinda freakin' me out right now! :D

Well, I guess English is just easier. Almost everything is written in just small cases and words are generally short. Makes up for easier and faster typing.

English score... after 12 hours of work, might try that again tomorrow morning. :p

I thought that geeks would type faster, especially with the amount of coding that they do. Perhaps it's the teenage generation that spent all their time on msn that types fastest now.

I guess the format of the test also affects typing speed as others have mentioned. Didn't think I'd be one of the faster typers, but I guess it's because I can read several things really quickly (skim) whilst retaining the information and regurgitating it. I guess my immediate term (shorter than short term) memory is really good!

I'm quite sleepy today as it's the holidays now and I've just been lazy so I'll see how that has affected my typing speed.

Nice workaround Sloth! I genuinely thought you were some super typist!

    Result:

Seems my typing speed hasn't been affected. 112 WPM, 567 Keystrokes, 108 correct words and 1 wrong word.
