    I was looking at performance-pcs.com and saw this item;

    http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=232&products_id=20700

    Looks very similar to an idea I had (and built) a year ago for my PCB case.

    It may have not worked very well, but it did work. It just couldn't stand up straight, and I need some thick copper wire to fix it with.

    Anyway, the description of the "multi-function cooler" says patent pending, so I'm assuming they are the first to ever seriously run with the idea. I'm just wondering if anyone had ever seen or heard of a product like this before 2006?

    From the web page ad:
    This product was added to our catalog on Saturday 23 September, 2006.

    I'm always finding stuff from my tinkering being manufactured by somebody! :sigh:

    They've been around for awhile.. almost posted in that thread saying so but didn't want to bring it to your attention that it was all for nothing, lol

    All for nothing? If I had known I would have still made it because its a functional thing that would be good to have, and plus I thought it up on my own, so who cares if it has already been done, the fact that I thought up something that was unique to me at least is almost as good as being the first.

    You could still hang it with fishing line from each corner. If pulled tight enough, I think they would do a better job at keeping the fan in position than that thin copper wire.

    Interesting concept, but I think it would make doing anything in the case annoying because it would be in the way and can't be moved very easy (at least not as easy as bending the thing out of the way) but good idea though.

    or just use steel wire, copper wire comes annealed hence it's generally very easy to bend. steel wire might get you farther, the only reason I mention this, is i'm about to hang some fans like that

    Very good idea, because steel wire is readily available in the form of cheap coat hangers. When I get home Ill chop one up and stick it in the sleeving with some zip ties and see how well that holds up (no pun intended).
