I've just been playing Borderlands, having picked it up and its DLC in a Steam sale a while ago.

    So far, so good.

It plays a bit like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow Of Chernobyl, but I'm enjoying it a lot.

I'm about seven hours in and have the feeling I've barely scratched the surface.

Are we talking 100 hours to completion?

If so, roll on the next 93!

How much levelling up can you do? I'm Level 14 right now.

I think I did it in 30(?) but that is a guess and can't really remember however it does get a bit samey after a while. I think the cap is 30.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I also learned fairly early on that you have to be careful which missions you pick as I found myself in a couple of fights I couldn't win without more health and better weapons.

this game is like crack, once you get hooked there's no coming back, you can't stop playing until you finish it..

the first couple of hours are the worst, once you get past that things just keep getting better and better, anyway make sure you play the DLC, especially the secret armory of general knoxxx, it's really really good and has a proper ending, the one that should've been in the original in the first place..

The level cap is 69 (so a total of 69 skill points available, 65 from levelling, 2 from moxxi, 2 from claptrap dlc). You'll probably get to 34 ish on playthrough 1. The dlc is well worth the money, a lot of people don't like moxxi's underdome but it is worth trying, although it's best to wait until you get decent equipment. With a pestilent defiler and a combustion hellfire, it's pretty fun :D

As for how long it takes to complete, it depends on how you play. A runner/gunner might go through the game quite quickly, but I play as a semi-stealthy mordecai so it takes a little longer, plus if you do all the side missions there's quite a bit of content. As a side note, as soon as clap trap pops up saying 'there's new missions available in ...' you should grab them, saves a lot of travelling back and forth.

I found with Borderlands that there is almost no ending to it, yopu can play and play until you finally run out of enthusiasm. Once you've 'Finished' the game, you just jump on back in and can playthrough again, with all the enemies levelling with you. You can play through three times I think, and thats without Co-op which was, IMHO, even better than SP. I think I finally got bored after 1 and 3/4 playthoughs on SP, and 1 playthough Co-op. God knows how many hours it was though!

    Good tips gents!

I have all the DLC so am aiming for a complete playthrough.

    I'm playing as Mordecai too.

Lilith might be fun the second time round.

Great game, enjoyed abit...Only bad bit, which is quite a downfall is that the missions get really reptitive...Kind of annoying...

Mordecai is the best IMO. I completed it 3 or 4 times with him (love it).

As for hours to complete it, A LOT more than one day that's for sure. I think it took me a week to complete Playthrough 1, and Playthrough 2 was faster cos I had better weapons to start with... and the DLCs are also extremely time consuming (Knoxx in particular).

Things move faster when you unlock the teleport. What LVL/mission are you currently at? Edit: just realised you are 14. Have you killed Sledge yet?

Not quite, but I'm on that mission right now.

I'm looking forward to when I can misquote Pulp Fiction and say: "Sledge's dead baby. Sledge's dead."

Think me and mates were up on 50 hours but clearing places out and loot hunting and so forth.

Off-topic: I haven't played it in a year or so - is there a way to join a public game or does anyone want to play co-op again? I'd rather play with people than SP.

If you do every mission and all 4 DLCs then yeah you're definitely looking at one of those 100-hour plays. I've played through it twice completionist style and it's a long haul... looking forward to the sequel.

Sledge is extremely difficult to kill if you don't have the right guns and aren't at a high enough level. One of my mates played the game so that he was always 2 levels or so above the enemies, which does make things easier... I prefer a challenge so I took Sledge down when he was a level or two above me... it took a LONG time and I died often, but it was fun :D

As for the DLC's I'm still going through them when I have time.
