I've only ever used a maximum of 2 in any machine I've had.

Current machine has a CD drive and a Coolermaster Cool Drive installed, the other 2 bays are sitting empty. I plan on filling the space up with a rheobus and a LCD though :)

5 = CD R/W, DVD, Rheobus, Reservoir and an empty bay between the CD & DVD drive for circulation and later a DVD writer.

I have several vipower removable drive bays.

These are the only sane way to move lots of data between machines, having the power switch makes them hot swappable so you can change disks without taking the machine down.

I also have an older slower CDrom in the machine since it copes with busted cds better

Minimum of 3 - DVD, CDRW, and baybus. I like having an extra one just in case I ever get around to putting in an LCD.

Whats with all the thread revival lately?

I need 5 (2 for aquatube, cd-rw, dvd, dvd-rw) but I only have 4 so my dvd-rom isn't in, I'm having to backup my dvd's to my hdd and then write them to dvd :( slow and annoying.

Sorry, I take exception to this statement. I am new here, but I only replied because it the first time that I've seen this thread when it popped up in the View New Posts search. I didn't look at the date it was begun and I don't care about post count - - - but I do care about being called stupid! :miffed:

Also, as some of the older threads haven't been seen by newer members, they may have something they would like to add to what may be an old subject to the more long-term members here. I think they should have that right. If it looks like they are spamming, a warning from the mods should take care of that, not a general slap-down to all new members.

    /end of rant/

sorry about that, and no it has nothing to do with postcount, i was reading all new threads in the modding forum, it was on the front page, and it was marked un-read, ie it had a blue envelope, i did not realise it was a dead thread, it was a accident. sorry.

prefer them all to be seperate so it's cheaper/easier to replace if something goes wrong.

    It's $40's? Doesn't get much cheaper.
