Man, I wish I had a 1TB file server. Give me a month on one of those and you would see me start backing things up so that I could download more. On a slow night, i'll down about 5gigs, but one night back at my parents house, I filled a 20gig in about 6 hours (I took a nice little one hour break to eat, sad). Anyway:

    SystemOne:
    120G
    15G
    --------
    135G

Soon to be added from my old machine:

    40G
    30G
    12G
    -------
    82G

    Total in about 2 weeks = 217Gigs

In a month or so, i'll get another 120G for a nice future total of 337Gigs (a nice number for those US VW fans). I'm going to break the half terabyte mark this year.

At the moment i'm budgeting a nice computer for the car. A 15" touch screen lcd, that sweet slim-line panasonic cd-rw/dvd; haven't decided on the mobo (maybe a new EPIA M10000 Nehemiah) or HD yet. I'll either go with a regular HD or with a lappy one (or two). So far it's just an aspiration that I am heavily considering since I spend so much time in my car and I ahte switching cds out.

I'm working on a design to archive all my DVDs to hard drives, it's going to take some time since I now have almost 400 DVDs. I think 2TBs should be fine, hehehe. :D

I am even thinking of networking it over to this box and stream movies as well as to the other TV that will have it's own SFF box!

    mmmmm... 2.23TB.... sounds nice!

Two 9GB Seagate SCSI Ultra Wide drives (36gb)

Was thinking I might get the new Cheetah because I like a seek time of less than 4  Check it out here

It just hurts a little to have a drive that costs more than my case, CPU and mobo together :waah: . I am just wondering how I can convine my wife to RAID them or if I should get S-ATA RAID and have my essential apps (Windows XP and CS :D ) on the Cheetah 15k.

Got a 1024kb drive here in an un-identified Amstrad board - it ran off 10xAA batteries as well as mains!! Still works as far as i know; haven't got a monitor old enough to test it on.

1 x 40 gigs ... It was always enough space until Kazaa somehow found it's way on my comp. and now all those mp3 and all that .... is filling up space like nothing ... if I get any spare money I'm getting two of those 80 GB SATA from Seagate for 159 Euros ... ah well ... a new kitchen has to come first so I'll be broke the rest of the year :waah:

    Cheers

Anybody with a 2TB system out there? Nearly full? And if so, is your vision now bad and you have learnt to type one-handed? :worried:

I got a 40 Mb drive from my first computer, a Cyrix 386-40. It beat the pants off most Intel 486's. I actually ran Win95 on it for a while before it went to the graveyard. Still got the drive though.

    File Server:
    20 x 9GB SCSI Drives

    Workstation:
    1 x 120 WD

cderalow what kind of fibre channel setup do you have? I was thinking about upgrading my storage and I would like to go FC.

I have a Sun E450 as my file server... Are you using a hub or just an array with a host card?
