ehh..the best ive ever got was 18mpg...and it was from the vehicel with the biggest engine ive owned (3 different vehicles, inline 4 turbo, v6, and diesel v8).

    btw..the 18 is from 1994 Ford F250 with 442 diesel (7.3L..but i don't like that liter thingy..) 5 spd.

On average about 45mpg, but that's with my foot on the floor 80% of the time. If I take it easy then I can get up to 55mpg or so.

Ford Escort LX Turbo Diesel 1.8l
    (it's really really slow)

But I drive about 150 miles a day so it saves me money!

Just out of couriosity.. When you Brits and others across the big pond fill up your vehicles at the gas pump what are your measurements? Is it by the litre or imperial gallon?

Oh.. avg. 17 mpg with my 4.0L V6 Ford ExploDer..... :D

Yeah, and I really miss it.

I've been working in Rotherham for the past few months and during that time it got broken into 3 times and was also almost stolen. All the exterior locks were damaged and the whole steering column was ripped apart, basically it would have cost quite a lot to repair everything, and it was also due for an MOT (needed a lot of welding work) so I just scrapped it :(

So why is it, that if you buy in liters, you measure mileage in miles per gallon? Just wondering, because you Brit's use of English/Metric is confusing.

Anyway, I get about 20mpg with my '91 Olds Toronado Trofeo. Should be a little more, but the computer's seriously confused. The previous owner replaced the stock 3.8 V6 with one from a Riveria with a supercharger. That's great, but he never reprogrammed the EFI :sigh:

I get about 17 mpg in my 3.0 V6 Ford Ranger (I blame San Diego traffic). I used to get 22 mpg consistently in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I really don't understand why it's so much worse in SD...
Correct me if I'm wrong (and I probably will be) but I thought europeans measure mileage in Liters/100km or something like that. but like i said, i'm probably off.

Theoretically we do, but everyone uses MPG because it's easier to understand. Not sure about countries apart from the UK though...

we were fully imperial before "europe". Now we have to by our food in grams and ml. apart from milk and beer.

:jawdrop: my car needs sorting!! same mpg from a 1.8 VW engine !!

my pops 2002 astorvan gets about 21mpg city (new york trafic)
and 27mpg highway (rite on money with the manual)

the engine on this thing is amazing its a 4.3L v6 that produces about 190hp but 394lb of tourque (all rear weel mesurments i belive) GM does a very good job with this engine. and their trany is amazing also. pickup is amazing for a van, neck hurts every time i tuch the gas it just jumps and it does kill civics with garbage can muflers

My idea is to get a similar engine and somehow pack it into a vw golf (lov the 91-95bodies) and add either a supercharger or a turbo kit (stage 3 gretty turbo would be nice)

almost forgot it costs about 25-27 usd to fill up
