I've been using twitter for the past few weeks and I don't know why, but I'm addicted... you can see what I'm doing and even subscribe to a feed of myself and my "friends". (so far I have 2 friends, one of which I actually know, the other which is leo laporte) Just thought I'd see if there are any other bit-tech'ers out there wasting time to put the world on notice without having to write a full blog post. If you don't know what twitter is, it is a service that gives you 140 characters to answer the question "What are you doing?". (as an example, I just posted what I'm doing now, which is posting about twitter on bit-tech.) pointless yet addicting (as many things geeky are)
I actually prefer it to a blog. With blogs I feel like I need to post huge amounts of info on a regular basis. To be fair, not that much happens in my life. I'm not good with blogging. With Twitter, I can just ramble about random stuff as and when. There's always someone, somewhere updating too, so I don't mind my thoughts being on the public timeline as they're gone within moments. http://www.lifehack.org/articles/lifehack/twitter-use-it-productively.html @Hexy If anyone adds me from here can you drop me a DM to let me know and I'll follow you back. I get loads of follows these days and have no idea who most of them are. (No need to do this so much now as you lot generally appear in at least one person's 'bit-tech' twitter list ).
I'm on there... I thought it was pointless too, but it's kinda interesting to know what your friends are up to. http://adactio.com/journal/1227 (http://www.odrakir.com/blog/?p=465) http://henrietteweber.com/2006/12/14/twitter-vs-jaiku-and-is-what-we-do-the-next-big-thing/ http://www.tomhume.org/2007/02/twittering_gent.html ch424
I'm on twitter, but I never update because I don't know anyone else who does it I'll start updating again if I can find that twitteriffic download link
heard about this, but i don't think people will be interested in me siting in front of my pc, going and and working.
So I deliberately waited for 2 days to revive this thread, or BUMP it if you may, just so it would be 1 year since the last post So why am I doing this then, offcourse it´s because I have started to use my Twitter account so now I would like to know who else is. I´m twitter.com/mr_carl and offcourse I follow twitter.com/bittech and twitter.com/Bindibadgi anyway it would be fun to follow some more bit-techers out there.
So this is a micro blogging system, a kind of online diary full of one-liners? You can add a sentence about your lumpy poo at 11:15am in the hopes that your friends may stumble upon it and find that nugget of information interesting? If it keeps people behind their computers and off the roads, it at least has some function.
I amazed that hasn't been taken up yet, I get annoyed with people microblogging too much on Facebook and I've deleted several people for using it like Twitter.
