I have just registered and want the wing commander set. These guys ok and is there no problems on windows 7 as stated.
Got about 20 or so games with them and not had any problems with any of them. They are a very good company and I have a great deal of respect for them and their DRM free, low price approach as well as all the free content they provide(even if its just smart business tactics). Not got the wing commander set myself, but they have a forum that you can check out. If their is an issue, itl most likely be brought up their. Anyway, id say your safe to assume that any game that says its runs on Windows 7 on GoG does so. They create custom packages for older games to get them running, often being pre-patched and emulated to allow operation with newer versions of Windows.
GOG is absolute ace! Prices are usually good, especially on the "good old games". I've currently got 30 games on there. On top of what Metaporic already stated they go to great lengths getting you additional content for your games, like soundtracks, wallpapers etc. Also, they upgrade you to better versions for free. I've bought the Broken Sword games on there in their original versions. When the remade editions for the first two games came out buyers of the original games got them for free. How awesome is that...? (rhetorical question )
GOG is pretty safe, I've bought several games from them in the past, and Bit-tech was using game downloads from them as competition prizes on their pod-casts a while back. The games should have all been updated to work on modern systems (as I believe that is a requirement of the game being sold on their store) and DRM Free to boot.
I've got about 10 games from them, and they've always been fab. Also played quite a bit with one of the guys who runs it on Steam.
GOG is awesome! You will not regret it. I got a bunch of games, including The Wicther 2. Gog.com is the sister company of CDProjekt, maker of The Witcher games, and is a publishing company. The work they do in making old games playable on a modern system is excellent, they really pay attention to detail to bring the same experience via emulator or patch, as if it was originally played on a compatible system.
It's awesome to have an account you share with mates; you spend a bit, they spend a bit and you all get a load of games.
I'm sure GOG never intended accounts like this. I'm also reasonably sure it's illegal, and even if not you should feel bad for abusing GOG's "DRM free" policy.
Well perhaps I should explain because I appreciate the previous post makes me sound like a group of abusing jerks that would buy hundreds of games on there each only contributing a few pounds. By sharing an account, all I meant was you could use a friends account and buy a game or two and thought it'd be reasonable to attach it to their account (essentially gifting games to them after allowing you to play a game from theirs). My idea on this would be really only like lending a game to each other as you might with physical copies. I don't think this would be a completely inappropriate way to use the service and I certainly didn't intend to suggest "abusing" their policy, nor send out that type of message! Apologies if it sounded to the contrary. They provide a quality service; have a refreshing perspective on DRM and deserve any and all praise they get.
I have a GOG account and I find them great. DRM free, good prices and they even give away games from time to time. I even got a GOG version (DRM free) of The Witcher 2 for free even though I bought it on Steam - very useful as it means I can install it on my spare drive (it takes a lot of space!).
