I am looking in the future to get a decent 24 inch monitor as in brand new. How much better is a Dell 24 inch to other monitors for those of you that have had that experience as i have never had a Dell?
The build quality seems pretty decent (don't have other high end monitors to compare them to though), I like the stands, and the way they assemble so easily. Screen wise I can't compare them to other IPS panels, but I've heard good things.
Much better in my experience, generally very good build quality and the stands are normally very adjustable.
I've got a Dell 24" and 2x27" had a few other makes tbh I wont buy anything but Dell now Seriously though even an old duffer like you will see the difference
In terms of visual quality, it is all dependent on user preferences but most of us here love them. The build quality on their monitors is very solid so as above posts have suggested, they more-or-less last forever. The vast range of connections available is another great bonus. Another reason for Dell being a great investment is due to their after-sales service being excellent. They have a very good policy with their 3 year warranty where even small faults are generally acceptable for a replacement to be issued, the customer service team are usually very friendly and easy to work with as well.
Never used one and never seen one but I hear nothing but praise about them. I have been thinking of buying the 27" or 30" one but I just cannot justify the cost of it to be honest especially when I could get 2 or 3 monitors for the same price or cheaper. I have not heard anyone who has one say it was a mistake buying it.
That will no doubt be partly because no ones wants to admit they spent so much on something not worth it If I was looking to buy a 27" 1440p monitor now, I'd genuinely consider one of the cheaper options, I don't use many of the 'features' of the DELL, only thing I'd miss is the stand.
If you buy a similarly priced monitor from another company (like HP) then the build and screen quality will be about the same. I assume what you are actually asking is, how much better are they than a regular TN panel. The answer to that is 'quite a bit'
If your comparing it to the same expensive monitors the difference is negligeble. High end Lgs offer similar performance and quality in games at least For photo, Video work the High end dells are a class above till you hit the proffesional grade area. If your asking how much better they are than the £100 monitor pc world sells. The answer is ALOT better. But comparing it to another £300 monitor the differences will be user prefference more than what people think. I own 2 24inch dells on my vid pc and 1 for main gaming pc. Have also got 2 high end lg monitors at work and the difference between it and the dell is not really enough. But both cost alot of money.
I have a Dell U2311H and I plan on getting 2 more Dell 23" monitors. I can't speak to other brands (it's not fair to compare to my old TN Samsung) but plenty of brands out there make high quality monitors. LG and HP to name a couple. The panels themselves aren't even made by the company on the sticker.
This is an important point to note. If you're doing hardcore research, you can often find a near-identical monitor for less money, but with simpler electronics/ergonomics.
They really are that awesome. I've owned the U2405 and U2407 (my parents have those now) and I currently own a trio of U2412 monitors and they are just gorgeous. Now according to the great Bit-Tech monitor god in the sky (the name of which I cannot for the life of me remember now I am sad to admit) the U2412's panel is of 'lesser' quality than the U2410, but that's apparently due to the U2412 having and e-ips panel. DO NOT let that discourage you as with a couple of tweaks to brightness and color settings it's just as beautiful, and as the previously mentioned god stated, even the e-ips panel in the U2412 is better than almost everything out there other than I think the U2410. Plus, Amazon had them on sale when I bought them and still might!
