The whole Bluray experience is better when you have all the right equipment (decent sixe screen, quality amp and speakers) etc. All the modern films are excellent. Just got a hold of the Exorcist, you can see the grains however the sound is oustanding
ps3 is perhaps best dvd upscaler on the market and the diffrence in older films can come down to just sound if your tv is below 40inch and not of decent standard for the audio visual person with top end setup the diffrence is alot. very few people have surround sound setup with AMP and high end tv + blue ray player as the cost is around £4k minimum. it also depends on the film Avatar looks good in blue ray The one looks no diff than DVD and its quiet an old film thats not been remastered. and thats the key Remastered on old films is key ( anything + 4 years ) not remastered the diffrence is small unless its a new film which is made to use the features
"ps3 is perhaps best dvd upscaler on the market" have there been any subsequent improvements since this review http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-9722853-1.html
Bad example. Leon does actually benefit from the transition to Blu-ray because there's a lot more content on the BD than the equivalent DVD. A fair few of the scenes cut from the original have been incorporated now so Leon is one of the BDs I'm glad I've bought again. I'd say Full Metal Jacket is one that doesn't benefit.
