So how much do you shop on line? Do you think you buy stuff you don't need because it's so easy to just click that button?? When I used to work part time in 6th form college, I would buy a few things each month (the majority of which come from amazon). Now recently I've been unemployed, and I'm worried that I'm buying stuff I don't need. Sure it's stuff that will get used, but my life hasn't really changed all that much because of the stuff. I know people 'comfort shop', aka shopping therapy. I've know acknowledging there might be a problem is a good start to prevention. Do you guys buy stuff as often/more often, do you consider it to be normal? What do you consider to be normal? How often do you check amazon/ebay etc. Here's what I bought in the past few weeks; april 18th; hard disk £60(mostly just to store my dvd iso's and movies on a seperate hard disk) and new sonicare toothbrush £27(my previous one died) april 26th; spare toothbrush heads £16, fan controller for my pc £20 april 29th; scott kelby photography dvd box set £20, sound proofing washers for fans on my pc £3 april 30th; two HP 901 XL ink cartridges £14 each May 2nd; 3 Maglite bulbs for my torch £10 total I know you could say, just be glad you aren't hooked on upgrading your pc (ahem truegamer ahem)(could easily splash £250 on a new monitor, or another £150 on a second GTX460, but I won't as I don't 'need' a bigger screen/faster card). Care to add a bit of psychoanalysis nexxo? I've made the poll a multi poll, so you can vote once for how often you check back on etailer sites, and how often you buy something.
Everything except groceries, occasionally games/music if they're selling for 3 for £10(I remember getting KOTOR, C+C Generals Deluxe and Homeworld Cataclysm in Game) So far the past couple months, Stopgap headphones-Sennheiser HD 201's, £14 Comply TX foam earbuds, £17 5mm, 100cmx50cm clear acrylic sheet, £25 Bloc Sunglasses, £15 Peter. F. Hamilton's Void Trilogy, £15 From the BT marketplace, £210 in new hardware.
I buy most products online these days. I have an Amazon Prime membership and ShopRunner membership for free 2-day shipping, and definitely make the most of it. Tools, games, industrial supplies, kitchen gadgets, clothes, electronics, computer parts, books, etc etc.
I never buy anything in a shop. Really, what's the point? Twice the price and three times the hassle.
I dunno... you might be in the lead with that £27 toothbrush with £16 spare heads I get my toothbrushes from the supermarket, for like ~$2 99% of the time, it's the same or cheaper, and wayyyy faster than shopping online (a few minutes compared to 1 week+ ) I only shop online when there's no alternative, or on the rare occasion that something is significantly cheaper. When it comes to shopping around however, the net is good.
Hehe, trust me, philips sonicare tooth brushes are frigging awesome. You feel like you've just been to the dentist. My last toothbrush lasted me 3 years or so, and the head, well, I didn't think I had to change it so it must have been used for like two years :/ I think it's pretty cheap for what you're getting. Beats the £100 that I paid for my first one I live in a coastal region, so it takes me 40 minutes to go into town. I don't buy anything from stores if I can help it because of this. I paid £2 for a sata cable lol. I could have got one for £1 but I needed it on the day. I know it's only a quid, but I'm weird like that. If I can make a saving, even if it's a small one, I will. Everything I've bought from here (Greece) has always been more expensive than amazon. I only bought my main computer parts from here for warranty purposes. A few examples; Philips Body groom; £40 on amazon, 90 Euros/£79 here Sandisk Extreme IV CF card 8GB: £35 amazon 58 Euros/ £51 here I wait for TEN DAYS for my stuff to arrive (if it's from amazon or ebay which most of my stuff is), so consider yourself lucky if you get stuff quicker.
I certainly check those sites daily as part of price comparison, but my purchases are too spread out to really put them in the voting brackets. Eg seven months ago when I got my first ever flat monitor, some additional upgrading followed but last month I sold off/refunded a quarter of all the new hardware bought, to fund my console and go down to the one games PC. So that makes it £450 not £600. Let's see, I buy books, the above electronics and PC stuff inc headphones/headsets, games, and nondescript birthday/Christmas gifts when the price is good, not necessarily in time for the actual date. Last contract change for my mobile phone I went online for the first time as it was just the SIM. However I do wait for months on end/until the following Christmas until music and DVDs are the price I want to pay, as DVDs feel like rentals that you keep rather than something to collect anymore, so I don't want to pay more than £4-5, £3 being better than Blockbuster. Music, if there's a bargain like new Radiohead for six quid downloaded, then that's fine too, though I'd normally get the CD. So yeah, I wait and wait and wait, then when prices won't get any better/lower or it's Christmas, I splurge unless something breaks and needs replacing. The real money I waste is on food including online when I should hit the shops more often to see the bargains right there. But they're bleedin' brilliant aren't they, I'm on my third pair now inc. the set I got someone else as a gift, back when they were a tenner from Argos...
[comic book guy] Worst. Poll. EVER! [/] Where is the option for "once every few months", or "I buy everything online" etc
I was pretty disappointed with the sound coming from a pair of Denon AH D1100, but give those are around 9 times the price, it was to be expected. For what I paid, they are very good, but I'm going to fob them off to my sister when my Denon's come back.
I even order my groceries online now It means if I am in a rush, I can have my shopping done in one click, as long as I don't mind buying exactly the same stuff as last week (I do weekly because I like to cook most of my food from fresh) Saves money too, god knows what I would come home with if I actually went shopping.
Want to but can't read the damn websites here. HAVE to shop in person and I hate it. Esp. for electronics. It's so much hard work.
Brushing teeth properly with a toothbrush wil give excellent results. Eating too much crap and not brushing properly or at all is what causes cavities and further problems. I've never had a cavity, and you've spent more on the last two toothbrushes, than I've spent on dental care in my life - including checkups at the dentist! Our last net purchase was from a totally awesome transformable tomas from china, which was $20 shipped, and took about 16 days. You can't get those things around here, best spinoff eva!!!111 We're coastal, but I guess we're lucky in melbourne since we have access to some great prices from local suppliers, and I do get alot of stuff for free from work... I bought a button cell battery the other day.... but I forgot to take the reciept! So I can't claim reimbursment now I've only ever bought one hdd, a western digital 1gb, and one 256mb sdcard, all the rest have been free, but there are a couple of local suppliers that are better priced than the net anyway. These aren't fancy shops btw, they are practically warehouses.
I buy most things online, but that still only comes down to once a week or so. To save on shipping I also bulk order, so it's hard to say. I'll browse once every other day, but maybe only add to cart and wait until two weeks later to buy. Just about anything I'm willing to wait up to eight days for with the cheapest shipping. Books, movies, nonessential electronics and other assorted items. Some things I buy online because you just can't get them in person easily such as computer parts, but those get express shipping.
lol, I'm not in need of help, I have my ways of coping. mwahahaha!! I'm so far-gone that my shopaholic tendencies sometimes migrate to other people.
