Just curious as to how many people do this. I rebought a number of my old games in the endless steam sales just because they were so cheap and it makes them so much easier to reinstall. It's a slippery slope, though: I nearly bought GTAIV twice just to have my achievements tracked on steam, but I restrained myself
None. Though came pretty close to purchasing Company of Heroes as it's an absolute pain to install from DVD and patch all the way from 1.0 to whateverhehellitistoday.
so far just the one which is Kotor as the original wouldnt run on vista 64 however the steam version does so much happyness has been had since, however that being said i havent got a game from anywhere but steam since the witcher came out
Only things i've repurchased so far has been darwinia but only becuase it came in a cheap set in the last sale.
only 2, coh because of its lol patches and splinter cell 3 because that ******* starforce doesnt work with vista x64
I repurchase only if it's really, really cheap. Examples - Prince of Persia deals, the recent Quake/id deal, The Tom Clancy GRAW pack (I only had GRAW 1, the pack had all of them for as much as I'd paid for the DVD of GRAW). If I've lost a disc(s) then I just repurchase on Steam instead of adding to my giant library of flimsy, scratchable media.
Not Many, but there are a few: Titan Quest (bought the Steam Version with Expansion pack in one of the offers), reluctantly gave the Retail copy to my brother (the DVD version was the golden Steelbox version) Quake 2 Quake 3 Arena (PC DVD, Steam pack and DC version) Borderlands (Xbox and Steam) Hexen Indianna Jones and the fate of Atlantis (CD and Steam) The Dig Half Life 2 Ghost Master (although there is a bug in the steam version which stops it running under Windows 7, a patch from GOG fixed it though). Deus Ex Deus Ex 2
It depends, but if a game's £1-2 then I'll probably get it just to avoid the strenuous task of putting in a CD/DVD - plus it means I can keep my old collection at my parent's home instead of mine! The auto update feature is also effing handy.
You've got people who torrent games and don't pay anything.......and then their's mugs who buy games twice I suppose it sort of balances it out.
Half Life 2 twice; bought the GOTY edition (my 1st steam game! ) then bought The Orange Box at a later point.
If it's really cheap I often will, although only for games where either the copy protection is a pain or where it's a multi-disk installation. That, and for games that have loads of patches (STALKER springs to mind here).
If it's really, really cheap I do. I bought the entire Eidos Hitman collection despite owning nearly all the games on PS2 and having bought Hitman 2: Silent Assassin twice on PC before; I also bought Just Cause because it was dirt cheap prior to the release of JC:2. It's useful, it's tidy, and it means I can sell the old optical versions. If Steam Cloud support becomes more widespread I'll probably buy more.
i have to admit to frequently re-buying on steam Its just really nice to have everything together and easily sorted. That said it still has to be at the right price. The recent Stalker offer was an instant must though. under 7 quid for both games???? Awesome.
Re buy some of my old console games just because of higher resolution and easier aiming. (Although for some reason San Andreas looks horrible at 1920x1200)
Half Life 2 in a way, already had it gifted to me once, and I just recently bought the Half Life Complete pack which included it. Oddly, I don't get to gift my new copy of HL2... might have to send off an email about that because I'm a little upset. Never actually purchased a game twice, though. Except Diablo 2, but that's not Steam.
