I decided to try some of the less frequently used features on my PC like the calculator and ended up doing a invoice of what I have bought since I got the bug, (Dec 2008). This is only my Scan, Amazon orders and a few other larger items from other places like OCUK and ebuyer that I can remember buying from them but I did not do a full order history check like I did with Scan and Amazon
    .
I have also bought a lot of smaller stuff from ebay, 7 Day Shop and numerous other e-tailers throughout this 2 year period.

So far I am at £4551 and that is not counting a 32" Sony Bravia that I some time use as my screen.

    This includes

Acer 6930 laptop from Amazon (For my son)

Packard Bell PC from PCWorld (Personal Use)

    Self built PC (personal Use)

Self built Gaming Rig (For my son)

Self Built PC (My latest build for personal use)

I am far from being well off by any stretch of the imagination and it has come as a bit of a shock that I have spent so much especially as everything apart from the new build would only fetch me a fraction now of what I paid for it.

Do think you spend too much on hardware and shiny new goodies? :D

Can't be bothered finding receipts but probably around a £4000, and that's not even with building a new PC! My rig is a 2 and a half year old i7. There's simply nothing worth upgrading to at the moment.

    I replaced my GTX295 with a GTX580.
I built a home server with a hardware RAID5 card and 3TB of WD drives.
A RAID5 NAS with 3TB of WD drives.
    A Eizo 30" monitor.
    Replaced my motherboard.

Ouchy! Intresting thread. Not sure i can remember back 2 years tbh but i can jot down what i have paid out since the release of i5 ( Feb 2010) . Unfortunatly for me i have a girlfreind who 'loves' her PC.

    Core i5 750
    Gigabyte P55-UD3R
4 gigs Corsair Dominator (when it was expensive)
    ATI 5850 XXX Edition
    Corsair TX850 PSU
    Corsair H50 Cooler
    Shuttle SN78SH7 Barebone!
    4 gigs of DDR2 ( purchased from a mate )
    Single slot ATI 5770
    Spinpoint F3 HD
    AMD Phenom2 560
    Antec P183
    Vertex 2E 120 gig
    Spin point F3 1 TB
    8 gigs Corsair Vengance C8
    Intel 2500k
    Be Queit 530 PSU
    Asus P8P67 Motherboard
    ANOTHER 5850 XXX Edition
x2 Dell ST2410 monitors ( for me eyefinity that i got bored with well quick )
    a few DVDRW's

and the one that hurt the most ....... a Dell U2711 Monitor

I would hate to add it all up, really i would i think i would cry my arse off as it seems i cant afford a summer holiday this year. If only i had not of bought the monitor ..... was it any better than the WFP2407 it replaced ..? In a word NO.

Please god help me stop this affliction of buying lots and lots of lovely hardware :p

    So if anyones intrested ......

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320680545419&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

Edit* OK so i was stupid enough to tot it up quickly and it sits roughtly £3200. Whats more ammusing is that last year i was unemployed for 7 months out of the year! :0

    Dell U2711 = £800
    gtx 260 replaced by 5870 replaced by gtx 580 = 120 + 200
    Ax850 PSU = £120
    16GB RAM = £160
    Synology Ds410j with 4 2TB drives = 250 + 300
    parts for a media centre = £200
    Logitech G51 speakers = £50
    that's it.... i think....

    total: around £2100.

but if you think about it, a good DSLR camera kit costs around this much in one go, so it's not the most expensive hobby.

The difference is that in 3 years the PC-hardware is obsolete and worth nothing, whereas proper lenses don't get out dated and DSRL frames don't age too badly, either.

    I think I've bought:
    S775 mobo + 2*2 GB ram
2*1 TB hard drives and a gigabit switch
    -------
    300 EUR

After which I sold the mobo+ram+one HDD for 160 €, so grand 140 € from my pocket.

    I can live with that.

    £1650 approx.

Next purchase, barring failed part replacement, will be a £200-£300 28nm gpu upgrade... I'm hoping there'll be a game out to challenge such a part come september/october this year.

Around £1300 max I reckon. That includes the desktop, the server, and various bits 'n bobs like upgraded fans. And I didn't pay for the desktop in full either, with my brother sharing the cost. So probably closer to £500.
