    Hi guys,

I've got a long weekend planned for Prague but I've never been there before.

Does anyone know how much money I'll need to cover 2-3 meals + entertainment per day as an estimate?

    Cheers!

It's been a couple years, but I spent around $100 a day when I was there. I am into clubs and drinking so I could have probably spent much less if not. Even the higher end restaurants were really not very expensive, maybe $10-15 meal. At a more normal place more like $4 and I don't mean crap fast food either. I don't know what entertainment you are looking for but museum and such were not too much only a few dollars entry fee, nightlife entertainment can get more expensive.

Depends on what you call "Entertainment" :D

Food and drink are surprisinly cheap, the further you go from the touristcenters the better.
That said, I recommend the "Malostranska Pivnice" (or any well-visited Pivnice for that matter).
A large beer will set you back 25-35Kc, a more than decent full meal 150-300Kc.

Err...how much is that in £GBP?

Very little drinking, mostly good food and touristy stuff.

Is it really that hard to Google the currency exchange rate yourself? It something you'll definitely need to know when you get there.

You could probably get away with 30-50GBP a day then.

Well, you can base the alcohol prices on Tesco prices :) http://nakup.itesco.cz/en-GB/Product/BrowseProducts?taxonomyId=Cat00001763

Of course it will be more expensive in restaurants, but even if you add 50% or mote, you are very low with prices, compared to UK.

Food prices are comparable or lower than prices here in Slovakia as well, so you are looking at 5-10 euros per meal per person, or about 3-4 euros if you take the daily offer of the restaurant.

I would say you will end up at around 10-15GBP for food per day, the rest depends what kind of "entertainment" you have on your mind :D.

Also avoid any youth hostels and any offers of going to visit out of the way places.....

That depends on the price of the show, but even a movie ticket is around 8GBP max. So unless you are going here to do what most of the English do, then you are not going to spend much. What most english do ? Drink beer until they are totally drunk . Even that wouldn't be very expensive :D - Pilsner Urquell Pale Lager 8 x 500ml would cost you 6.03GBP. Ticket to Praha Zoo is 6.4GBP, again not very expensive. And then you can kill time just by walking around the centre of the city, that won't cost you anything (well, except money for transportation).
Oh and the transportation... Prepare to be "robbed", sorry i mean to pay the price of foreign visitor, if you want to go with a taxi :). I would suggest using a public transportation instead : http://www.dpp.cz/en/ . You can get in the middle of city from Ruzyne airport in about 30 minutes and for 32 CZK (1GBP). With a taxi, you will pay around 15-20GBP.

Yes, i definetely recommend getting a day ticket for public transportation, and doing everything by Metro/Streetcar.

24 Hour Ticket is 110Kc, the 3 day ticket is 300Kc

    (for you, that's 3.5 and about 10 pounds) :D

    Where are you staying?

    I stayed at a hostel.
Ended up having a comfortable spacious 6 bed room all to myself for the duration for a little over £5 a night.
It would have been a very decent price even if I didn't get lucky and had to share.

Add this to cheap beer, cheap food, cheap transport and my frugal nature (see:tight-arse), I probably spent less than I would have at home over the same period :)

I am not saying that a Youth Hostel is a bad idea I was referencing a movie where people die and get tortured. Hostel is what it is called xD

I'm staying at the Majestic Hotel. Proper weekend relaxing break as opposed to backpacking. Looks like I won't be spending much. £300 for 4 days between 2 people sound about right?

Depends what you want to do - I don't remember the sights being super expensive. The food and drink is not as cheap as perhaps it once was - if you avoid touristy restaurants right by the main sights you'll save a lot. I loved Prague though - you should have a great time :thumb:
