I have just read a review that says the barton 2500xp needs at least a 425w psu. Is this right or just a load of rubbish?
it is a load of rubbish. I am running a 2500 overclocked to 3200 speeds with an asus a7n8x, 2 hard drives, 2 cathodes, an audigy and a gf4 ti4200 on a crappy 300w psu that came with a £30 case. It runs perfectly stable!
Can i just ask what settings and cooler you have on your CPU? I've got the 2500+ barton but can't seem to get it running stable past a core clock of 179Mhz x 11 @ 1.675 Volts on my MSI FISR mobo
some clock, some don't mate, Will has a crappy one, I've got a *fairly* good un It's luck of the draw really
ive got a alpha pal 8045 with an akaska clear fan thats running pretty much as low as it goes with the built in controller. I'm running at 400 fsb and at 2.2 ghz. I'm not sure about multiplier, my memory is terrible, but it is the same as an xp3200. I remember that much! I think I might have nudged the voltage up an notch but I can't really remember that either! Looks like I got "quite" a good'un but I haven't really tried to push it at all.
