8gb (2gbx4) in my main gaming / work machine 4gb (2gbx2) in my media server 2gb (1gbx2) in my linux workstation
Only 2*2 GB. Don't really need more, and getting another 2*2GB kit of fast DDR2 memory would cost way too much for it to be worth it. I doubt I'll be getting more before a whole platform upgrade (and that's not happening at least untill Ivy Bridge)...
2*4GB DDR3 in the main machine, 2*2GB DDR2 in the secondary, 2GB DDR3 in the HTPC. I kind of expected more 12GBs from 1366 systems wanting more than 6GB.
My MacBook Pro Laptop has [8GB] 2x4GB and my i7 920 based PC has [6GB] 3x2GB Yes, the faster beast of a PC has less memory than my laptop which is basically for writing on, but if I was going up to 4GB I thought.... why not just go to 8GB instead?
I've had 8GB since 2009, and don't feel the need for any more (unless another 8GB comes along for $50 or so )
i've had 8GB since 2007. only 3 people with 16GB and none 24GB?? come on Bit-tech, i'd have gone for 24GB if i had tripple channel.
If affordable 24GB kits had been around when I orignally built my rig, I would've bought 24GB. As it is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
6Gb 3x2GB @ 2000MHZ. Got a very good deal on eBay was suppose to be faulty 2 years later not a problem. Sold my 3gb kit for about a £5 less than I paid. Laptop has 3gb 3*1gb@1333MHZ
As my server is currently doubling as my "main" gaming PC I have the grand total of 2GB DDR2 (2 x 1GB). My cpu is overclocked by 66% though if that helps
Turns out "just because I can" isn't such a valid reason for most to spend the cash. 2*2 GB because that's all I need. In the same way the stock speed CPU is all I need and the GTX 470 is all I need, regardless of the faster parts on the shelf.
